Work Text:

The suit arrives in a plain box with a note attached. ‘Wear this tonight’, it says. The message is impersonal, printed on white cardstock, and lacking his boss’ signature, but it was delivered by one of Vein’s subordinates whom Xia Fei recognizes as a messenger so it must have been his boss who sent it.

“Thank you,” Xia Fei says.

“Yeah, yeah.” The man smirks. “Don’t forget to wear it as the boss ordered.” He leaves, laughing, the sound echoing in the empty corridor.

Xia Fei closes the door and takes the box to his room. He has a couple of hours until a driver arrives to take him to his weekly business meeting with his boss.

Sometimes they meet at their favorite hot pot place, and at other times at fancy restaurants with sophisticated names in French that Xia Fei can’t pronounce. If Xia Fei is really lucky, they meet at one of his boss’ residences around the city instead.

They talk about upcoming modeling jobs over a delicious meal, and Xia Fei always ends up venting his frustrations after a couple of glasses of wine, while Vein looks at him with unconcealed amusement.

If his boss is in a good mood, Xia Fei is invited to stay for dessert. If he is not, their meeting ends after the actual dessert is served.

Either way, Xia Fei has to finish his homework before leaving his flat, so he puts the box next to his bed and returns to his desk, where a thick book on transport phenomena is waiting for him.

He works on his notes for a while, but it’s not a fun subject, and his curiosity gets the better of him. He stands up from his chair and picks up the box.

It’s not completely unusual for Vein to give Xia Fei gifts, but he usually prefers to deliver them in person. Plus, he likes to keep them a little more subtle, or at least subtle enough, to avoid sending a big box on a normal Friday.

Xia Fei can’t wait to see what kind of gift Vein sent him, so he undoes the ribbon tied around it and lifts the lid, eager to know what’s inside.

He had expected a new pair of oxfords, or a new cashmere coat, or something equally fancy and shiny to wear in La Brasserie des Mémoires, or whatever it was. It wouldn’t be the first time Vein sends him formal wear, as expensive as his rent, so that he wouldn’t stand out like a sore thumb among Bridon’s elite.

Except that he doesn’t find the kind of attire he was expecting inside. Instead of a nice jacket, shirt, and pants, he sees a black bodice wrapped in white tissue paper. He slams the box shut, letting the ribbon flutter carelessly to the floor.

When Xia Fei started working for Vein’s modeling agency, he made it clear that he would not model anything too revealing or in suggestive poses, nor would he meet privately with clients. Vein agreed to his terms immediately, which makes the current situation even more confusing for Xia Fei.

Although, technically, he will not model in the outfit nor meet any clients while wearing it, as far as he knows.

He grabs his phone but hesitates when his thumb hovers over Vein’s contact details. His boss always picks up his calls, but Xia Fei was told he would be very busy until their meeting, so Xia Fei doesn’t think Vein would appreciate the interruption. He puts his phone away again and stomps back to his desk, where his incomplete homework awaits him.

Xia Fei does his best to keep his eyes away from the box and focus on finishing the chapter about energy transport, but he can’t ignore it for long.

Only half an hour later, he finds himself opening the box once more. This time, he reaches inside to pull the tissue paper apart and take a better look at the clothes, if they can even be called like that.

Xia Fei frowns when he takes a bunny suit out of the box, and notices the dark stockings and stilettos packed beneath it.

He presses his lips into a thin line as he holds the suit against his torso. He is not sure if it will even fit him, but the material feels sturdy enough, and its quality is better than a cheap Halloween costume.

Xia Fei tells himself that he is acting entirely out of curiosity and sleep deprivation when he takes off his clothes and changes into the bunny suit.

He has to overstretch the tights to make they fit his long legs, and fears they will tear at any second, but somehow they survive. The suit itself is tight too, especially around the crotch, and the same could be said of the heels which are half a size too small.

What the hell was his boss thinking when he chose the outfit? He probably wasn’t thinking at all, and just wanted to get a quick laugh at the expense of Xia Fei by making him look like a clown before dinner.

Xia Fei walks awkwardly over to stand in front of his full-length mirror and takes a deep breath as he glances at his reflection.

He gulps, not sure how to feel.

The suit was clearly not made for someone of his complexion or height, yet Xia Fei looks nothing like a clown. His legs have never looked longer, and he hates to admit that cutting out his favorite snacks makes his waist look snatched under the skin-tight fabric.

Xia Fei completes the outfit by clipping the necktie and wrist cuffs in place and putting the headband with the bunny ears on his head, feeling like his face is on fire. Is it out of anger or embarrassment? It doesn’t matter, it’s ridiculous!

What is he supposed to do? Go out in a skimpy outfit just to satisfy his boss’ absurd wishes? What would Vein do if he refused to play along? Would he fire him? Xia Fei can’t afford to get fired. He has bills to pay, and he is saving up to cover his tuition fees for the next term. Losing his job would be catastrophic.

Xia Fei falls on to his bed with a sigh, forgetting all about his unfinished homework, and feeling conflicted about the whole situation. He loses track of time until his phone vibrates a couple of times.

His fingers fumble through the sheets until he finds his phone, and he gasps when he realizes that the car Vein sent for him has arrived early and is waiting for him outside the building.

Xia Fei kicks off the stilettos and paces around the room, wondering what to do.

He quickly grabs a long coat to cover himself up and, as an afterthought, jumps into a pair of pants to hide any evidence of the incriminating stockings.

Fortunately, it’s cold and rainy outside, so no one would bat an eye at him for overdressing for the weather, but there’s no chance he can stand in those heels, so he throws them into his ratty backpack with the bunny ears headband.

Xia Fei leaves his home feeling hyper-vigilant of his surroundings and hoping that he won’t encounter any of his neighbors.

The chauffeur, a middle-aged man who always wears sunglasses, no matter the time or weather, nods at him and drives away silently. He never makes any conversation or asks any questions, and Xia Fei is especially thankful for that today.

Xia Fei lets out a sigh of relief when he recognizes the route to Vein’s place. It really is one of Xia Fei’s luckier evenings. He wouldn’t have known what to do if he had been forced to show up at some fancy restaurant wearing a bunny suit under his coat. But if Vein sent the outfit, he must have known that they couldn’t meet anywhere but at his home.

At least his boss is understanding in that regard.

The security guards at the reception of Vein’s building are already familiar with Xia Fei’s face and allow him to enter the lift without interruption. It takes no time for Xia Fei to stand in front of his boss’ door, feeling nervous all over again.

He reaches into his pocket for the key that Vein gave him to open the door. Vein knows that Xia Fei has arrived from the moment he stepped into the building, thanks to the reception staff who keep him updated, so there’s no need to knock.

Vein’s flat looks just as Xia Fei’s remembers it from the last time he visited, about a month ago: small and barely lived in, despite the fact that Vein can afford something better and more luxurious.

He can smell food and hear rock music playing from the speakers.

On a normal day, that would have been enough to make him rush to find Vein and wrap his arms around him, abandoning all thoughts of professionalism, but today he pauses because Vein requested him to wear the stupid bunny suit, and Xia Fei has to comply if he wants to keep his job.

Xia Fei takes a deep breath, takes off the coat and pants and leaves them on the rack by the door, along with Vein’s black coat, which smells faintly of smoke and his favorite cologne.

Then he exchanges his sneakers for the stilettos, kneeling to tie them around his ankles, once again fearing for the integrity of the stockings. Xia Fei straightens up and feels like he might trip and break his ankles or his neck, or both.

He wipes his sweaty palms on his tights and walks into the flat, clutching the bunny ears. Or at least, he tries to walk but ends up dragging his feet across the laminate flooring, not feeling brave enough to take normal steps.

Vein is busy at the stove, stirring a big pot and humming along to the melody playing in the background. If Vein is cooking, it must be Xia Fei’s luckiest day ever, but perhaps it just makes sense for Vein to cook a homemade meal to make up for his little prank.

“I hope you’re in the mood for beef stew,” he says, not turning around yet but sensing Xia Fei’s presence behind him. “There’s also gratin baking in the oven.”

“Boss…” Xia Fei calls, his voice sounding strangled with nerves.

“What?” Vein looks at him over his shoulder and then does a double take, his eyes open like saucers. “What are you wearing, Felix?”

“What you told me to wear!” Xia Fei whines. “I don’t know what your intentions are, but this was in the box you sent me…”

“I didn’t send you anything.”

“You didn’t?” Xia Fei swallows as a heavy weight settles on his stomach. Vein doesn’t lie; he despises lies. He would never lie to Xia Fei.

“No,” Vein replies curtly.

“Oh no.”

The realization makes Xia Fei want to die. He had been tricked and the way the delivery man laughed after Xia Fei had received the package should have been a clear indication that the man was not well-intentioned.

The intention was to humiliate him, and it’s working.

“I’m leaving,” Xia Fei says, literally turning on his heel, and forgetting his worries about falling over in his haste.

Unfortunately for him, Vein is quick to catch up with him and grabs his arm, stopping him.

“Now, why would you leave so soon after going through the trouble of dressing up for me?”

Xia Fei’s heart starts racing inside his chest. Vein seizes his hesitation and pulls him closer with a possessive arm around his waist.

“You can tell me who tricked you into wearing this, and they’ll be punished accordingly,” Vein whispers into Xia Fei’s ear. “I’ll personally make sure you never see them again, but first, let me take a good look at you.”

For a moment, Xia Fei stays frozen in place but eventually decides to turn around. He trusts that Vein will keep his word and not make him feel even more uncomfortable.

Vein stares at Xia Fei and puts his hands on his bare shoulders. Vein’s eyes travel down from his neck to his chest and waist. Xia Fei’s feels like he is burning up with shame, acutely aware that the bodice leaves nothing to the imagination.

“It even comes with ears, huh?” Vein pries the ears from Xia Fei’s hand to inspect them. “Why aren’t you wearing them?”

“They’re too much.”

Nah.” Vein smiles as he slides the headband onto Xia Fei’s head.

Xia Fei and Vein are almost the same height. On any normal day, a couple of centimeters hardly makes a difference, but now Vein has to tilt his head back just a fraction to meet Xia Fei’s eyes. Xia Fei realizes that, in the neck-breaking high heels, he is a few centimeters taller than Vein, which for some reason, makes his heart flutter inside his chest.

“It looks good on you.” There’s something about the way Vein’s deep voice utters those words that makes Xia Fei’s knees go weak. “Absolutely delectable.”

“Boss…” Xia Fei swallows. He is still self-conscious, but he can feel the warmth in his belly spreading like a forest fire all over his body.

“Can I?” Vein asks, and Xia Fei understands.

He nods without missing a beat, not trusting his voice. Vein lowers his hands to his hips, before sliding a hand across Xia Fei’s abdomen, up to his chest covered by the empty cups of the suit, and all the way up to the pulse point on Xia Fei’s neck.

“Like the heart of a frightened little deer.” It’s a taunt, a provocation, as if Vein is the predator and Xia Fei is the prey that has fallen right into his hands.

It works. Xia Fei’s mouth is on Vein’s a second later, reminding Vein that even peaceful deer have antlers to stand up for themselves.

Vein accepts the kiss, reciprocating with the same intensity, and pushing back against Xia Fei’s lips with his teeth and tongue. Xia Fei can feel Vein’s fingers digging into his nape, pulling him down almost painfully. Not to hurt him, but just enough to make Xia Fei choke down a moan.

Vein pulls away, licks his lips, and pushes Xia Fei towards the living room. Xia Fei screeches and clings to Vein’s body, worried about tripping and falling, and taking Vein down with him to the cold, hard floor.

Instead, Vein lets himself fall onto the sofa, pulling Xia Fei down with him so that they lie side by side, pressed together, as the sofa is not big enough for both of them.

“Figured we’d be more comfortable like this.”

“Yeah.” Xia Fei’s hands clutch Vein’s shoulders, and one leg snakes around Vein’s hips, the heel of the shoe digging into the cushions, holding him in place. Not like Vein would like to be anywhere else.

Xia Fei kisses Vein again, slowly and deeply, fueled by the way Vein digs his thumbs into his waist, and traces desperate semicircles over the fabric.

Vein’s mouth wanders to the junction of his neck. He always teases him, by pressing open-mouthed kisses everywhere, but he never sinks his teeth in, unwilling to blemish his perfect skin.

“It’s better to avoid marks altogether. We don’t wanna risk getting caught, do we?” Vein used to say, dragging his sharp canines over Xia Fei’s Adam’s apple to make him squirm, but never doing anything further. “That wouldn’t be professional, dear Felix.”

It’s not professional either to kiss your boss in his own home, but Xia Fei stopped caring as soon as Vein stopped caring about kissing his employee, which didn’t take long at all.

Despite his past reluctance, Vein now shoves a thigh between Xia Fei’s and sinks his teeth into his flesh, close to the shoulder where it’d be easier, but definitely not impossible, to hide the bitemark that will undoubtedly bloom there.

A broken moan escapes Xia Fei’s throat, unable to keep quiet at the dangerously addictive combination of pain and pleasure. Vein chuckles, pressing a kiss to Xia Fei’s cheek before rolling his hips so that Xia Fei can feel how much he desires him.

“Vein,” Xia Fei pants, also painfully hard. “Vein, I…”

“I think you liked that, so maybe I’ll consider digging my teeth into somewhere else tonight,” Vein smirks.

Xia Fei swallows with anticipation, but for now Vein breathes heavily into Xia Fei’s ear, dragging his nails across his thigh and ripping the stockings in their wake. Xia Fei doesn’t care about it, he can only focus on the sensual cadence of Vein hips thrusting against his body, seeking that delicious friction.

Xia Fei does his best to reciprocate, grinding their hard cocks together until it hurts. He buries his hand in Vein’s long hair to guide him back into a rough kiss, moaning and feeling giddy as Vein licks into his mouth.

He can feel Vein’s hands moving from his torso to his back and fumbling with the tiny zipper of the bunny suit. However, a second later, Vein pulls away from the kiss, startled by the sound of his phone alarm.

“The gratin is ready,” he says, breathlessly, reaching into his pocket to stop the annoying ringtone. He is not immune to pleasure and adrenaline either, and it shows in the form of a subtle blush that brings some color to his face.

Xia Fei sits up, still feeling lightheaded and gasping for air. He spots the bunny ears on the floor, and starts laughing, flustered by the sudden realization that he had enjoyed the impromptu make-out session while still wearing the stupid bunny suit, which now feels tighter than ever in the crotch area. He was so caught up in the moment that he didn’t even notice when the bunny ears slid down his head.

Vein joins him a moment later, wrapping his arms around Xia Fei’s torso from behind. His roaring laughter reverberates in Xia Fei’s chest.

“You can go and change into something more comfortable while I take care of the oven,” Vein says. “You can take anything you want from the closet.”

“I think I’ll do that.” Xia Fei picks up the bunny ears, feeling embarrassed, but strangely elated at the prospect of wearing something that belongs to Vein.

He kicks off the deadly shoes, but his legs keep shaking when he stands up and makes his way to the bedroom.

“Felix,” Vein calls, and Xia Fei turns to look at his boss. “We can skip dessert for something even sweeter.”

Xia Fei licks his lips and smiles. “Sounds like a plan.”
