"Okay everyone, time to sleep and rest. Tomorrow is the weekend so go out and have some fun or something. We'll see each other again in—, two years. Bye."
Mingyu ended his long live video and leaned back, sighing. His eyes stared back at the black screen of the laptop, eyes slightly watery but he held it in.
It's his last live video of this year until 2028. He's gonna leave for the military next week so he won't be able to open up his account to start any lives to interact with his fans. There's no more mukbang with Mingyu or him playing his music playlist while he cooks and sings at the same time.
It's a little saddening but it's one of the good things for him. At least he can have the rest that he deserves all these years now, by joining the military service. He couldn't be on the field to train like normal military people do due to his back pain, but he'll be attending the basic training for about two or three weeks to complete his mandatory training before he starts his alternative service.
Him being such a gym freaks couldn't even join an actual military just because his back pain had worsened over the years. It's kind of upsetting but there's one thing that kept him from being upset for so long though.
He glances at the front door when he hears beeping sounds. Indicating that Wonwoo is home. Mingyu immediately smiles brightly, jumping out of the chair and forgetting all the sad things he was thinking about seconds ago.
Wonwoo walks in, toeing his shoes off gently, and stepping inside. "I'm ho– umph!" A body collided with him so strongly that he almost stumbled down the floor along with the person who pushed him. Wonwoo manages to hold balance by placing one hand on the wall while the other that was holding onto his bag, dropped, wrapped around the said body.
"Woah, Mingyu what?"
Mingyu simply smiled into his neck, arms tightening around him without any trace of planning to let go, "Welcome home, hyungie."
"Yeah. How's your day, Min? Was the chapagetti delicious? Did you throw the bread that expired?" They waddled backwards with slight difficulty because Mingyu refused to let go, he muffled answers to the question asked until the back of his leg hit the couch, and they both tumbled on it.
Wonwoo ended up sitting on his lap with Mingyu's arms still wrapped around his small waist.
They both stared at each other in silence, just both of them admiring each other's beauty, memorizing every curve, slopes of their nose, and everything on each other's faces, until they shared a smile.
"Hi."
"Hi, Min."
Wonwoo placed both his hands over Mingyu's cheek, stroking them gently, eyes looking everywhere on his face. Then he starts to play with the younger's buzz cut, feeling tingly on his palm from the short haircut.
"You look really good with this hairstyle, Min. Maybe you should maintain them until you come back from military service two years later. It'll be fun and easy to take care of."
Mingyu chuckled, leaning forward to simply rest his head on Wonwoo's shoulder. "You're saying that because you love them. You've mentioned a couple of times that you prefer me with short hair rather than long hair."
"And I stand by it still."
They both giggled together, before they leaned into each other for a gentle kiss. It didn't last long, it's short and simple. It ended in seconds, both resting their forehead together.
"Have you eaten, hyung? Do you want some of the chapagetti too? I can make some for you if you want." Mingyu whispers, pulling Wonwoo slightly away from and shifting the older so that he'd sit sideways on his lap.
"It's alright, Min. I ate on my way here. You had a good time chatting with our fans and even with Seungkwan, Dino and Jungkook that I chose to just eat some ramyun at our favorite ramyun place. Plus, I have a surprise for you," Wonwoo pushed himself up to retrieve the plastic bag that he had left by the front door to show them to Mingyu.
The younger tilted his head in question, "It's those breads that we bought together that's already expired," he pulled every single one out of the plastic bag to show them to Mingyu. "You sounded quite sad about it being expired that I had to get some new ones to replace with the old ones. So we could eat them together." Wonwoo grins teasingly at Mingyu.
"Hyung, you seriously wanna tease me right now? I am super sad that those breads went wrong even before we could eat it but come on now, don't tease me like this." The younger one whined but somewhat happy to see the same breads surrounded them.
His hyung does know him so well.
"I couldn't help it. Even just watching you on that live, looking so sad like a kicked puppy, checking and smelling all those breads looks so cute, to the point some fans even speculate you might have smuggled one or two of those breads with you when you went into the room to eat them, looking suspiciously at the camera. It's adorable and hilarious."
Mingyu audibly gasped, faking wounded on that info, "I didn't even hold any of those breads with me when I went to our room! How dare they." Mingyu faked being angry at their fans even though their lives ended minutes ago. He knows they're just teasing him.
Their fans love to tease him all the time.
Wonwoo sat next to him on the couch, hand loosening the necktie around his neck before they ripped the bread out of their packet to eat, "Hmm, they're tasty." Wonwoo says between munches, Mingyu did the same, humming in delight that he was finally able to eat the bread they bought.
"They sure do."
"By the way, you and Jungkook were talking about him reposting your pictures on his account? Which pictures were those?"
Mingyu choked but managed to regain his composure quickly with a little patting from the back that Wonwoo did, then looked at Wonwoo with wide eyes. He is so ready to tell him about those pictures. Pulling his phone out to show them to Wonwoo.
"This! Look at all these pictures of me in the suit, with this haircut. He seriously keeps tagging and commenting the word baldie on every single picture. Even from my live just now too." Mingyu was whining and wanted Wonwoo to show him the sympathy of his best friend teasing him of being bald but he did not expect for Wonwoo to laugh at him, the loud sort of laughs, from all the pictures that Jungkook had tagged.
Mingyu looked at Wonwoo in disbelief, "Hyung. Are you seriously laughing at me right now because of my hair? At my misery of being called baldie? Jinjja??" The younger scoffed and pouted at his hyung, he didn't think that Wonwoo, of all the others, would laugh at his haircut.
"Oh my god, I'm sorry Min. It's just, you're so cute. The tagging was cute and hilarious. I think that Jungkook even did the same thing towards his own members when they enrolled in the military right? Especially Jin hyung, I think." The older one wiped off some tears that started to form in his eyes.
The pictures, videos were all from Mingyu's most recent event. He had just cut his hair that morning and later that same day, he had to attend the event with the haircut so it became such a viral moment at that time.
Their fans who weren't expecting the new haircut were surprised to see Mingyu appearing in the buzzcut. The world took it positively and even complimented Mingyu on the haircut.
Even every other of their group members said the same thing, including himself because Wonwoo was the first to see Mingyu in buzzcut after he had the haircut. Wonwoo couldn't get his hands off his hair that day because his gorgeous, handsome boyfriend looks so fine with it.
"Yeah, he did. He teases Jin hyung so much like he did to me. That man," Mingyu shakes his head at his best friend, thinking back on how talked about Jin hyung's hair then when Hoseok hyung enrolled, he did the same thing. "He is really something."
It is safe to say that Jungkook has all his group members in buzzcut photos saved in his gallery.
"He is." Wonwoo agrees.
They both enjoyed the silence while they ate the bread. Wonwoo starts to feel tired because he'd stay out for a little longer than he usually did on a Friday evening just so he could give Mingyu his time with their fans. He knew of Mingyu doing live while he was still at the office. Wonwoo intentionally called his boyfriend hours ago, asking what he was doing even when he knew it himself because of the notification he had turned on for every single one of his group members.
When Mingyu called him at the later part of his lives asking about the bread, Wonwoo was already, almost on his way home, but he made a detour towards the bakery they went together and bought the same kind of breads, buns, pastries to bring home for Mingyu.
The bakery shop is about a few blocks away from their house but he didn't mind going back there to buy them the breads so that they'll be able to enjoy them later.
As they finished eating, the remaining bread, buns and pastries were kept in the fridge again. This time, Mingyu tried to remember the expiry date and eat them before it goes bad. He moves carefully and silently because he didn't want to wake Wonwoo up, who happens to fall asleep midway after eating his second bread.
Mingyu kept the other half in the fridge and gently, he carried Wonwoo towards their bedroom.
Usually when it's Friday night, the pair often enjoys their night by watching few movies together till the wee hour of the night since it's the weekend the next day and Wonwoo didn't need to go to work and Mingyu sometimes are free from his schedule would join Wonwoo.
Like tonight, they supposedly plan to play some games for a few rounds and then watch one or two movies together till they both fall asleep, cuddled in each other's arms but it seems Wonwoo's body chooses otherwise.
Mingyu being the softy for his boyfriend doesn't have the gut to wake him up. He just carried him to bed, took off his work clothes and replaced them with his pyjamas. There is one thing he knows that Wonwoo never likes to skip is brushing his teeth before sleeping.
Mingyu scratches his head, "Guess I have to wake him up then." He mutters, leaning down to gently wake Wonwoo up. It didn't take long for Wonwoo to rise from his short nap, looking around sleepily. "Min?"
"Hyung, come on, let's go wash up and brush our teeth then we can go back to sleep alright."
"Sleep? But, I thought, we plan to watch some movies and play games tonight right?" Wonwoo sleepily asked, rubbing his eyes while he stifled a yawn.
"Yeah we do but you're tired. We still have tomorrow to do all those so let's just sleep tonight, okay."
Wonwoo looked back at him with a small pout, nodded in agreement because honestly he does feel a little more tired today, so he's grateful that Mingyu chose to sleep rather than go with their plan for tonight.
"Thank you Min and sorry. I'll make up with you tomorrow."
"No worries hyungie. Besides, after I finish my mandatory training, I'll be coming back home like you did for the next two years anyway, so we can enjoy our nights with lots of movie watching, gaming or simply just kissing and cuddling with each other." The taller smiles brightly, eyes looking so happy at the thought of him coming home to his boyfriend everyday for the next two years.
That's the best part of not staying at the military camp during his services. Him and Vernon both will be doing alternative services just like their Jeonghan and Wonwoo hyung, all because of their health issues.
Who cares, at least Mingyu will see Wonwoo every day while he's completing his military service, and he can still cook for Wonwoo whenever he's at home during the evening.
Wonwoo smiles back at him as brightly as he did, leaning in to kiss his boyfriend on the lips with a smile, "Guess you're right, Min. We still get to spend our time together everyday for the next two years. No separation needed unless I have to join the group for some event or some sort." He says over Mingyu's lips.
"We'll manage it. Now let's go. Time to shower, then sleep." And that's how the night ended in their home.
