Bring Me A Dream

Summary:

Will is alone with his thoughts until Mike comes to talk to him.

Or

Tower scene rewrite. No "Friend's? No thanks. BEST FRIENDS ;)" bullshit

Notes:

Guess who finally got out of her depression funk caused by the duffer brothers and their shitty ass writing? ;)
Anywho, here is a rewrite of the tower scene. Yes, it's cringey, but I cried reading it over again.

Enjoy

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Mike moved next to him, leaning on the railing. He didn’t say anything for a moment, staring at the mess of a dimension in front of them; red lightning sparking in the clouds about a mile away, and what looked like a cluster of demobats flying around frantically.

“So.” He said finally. “You’re…”

“Yeah.” Will turned to hide his embarrassment. It was bad enough that he’d come out in that way, but to be called what he was was even worse. Especially by Mike. He could feel the tower wobbling as Mike shifted his weight. Of course. Will had made him uncomfortable. Mike was the last one of his friends to hug him, and he’s been avoiding him until now. Will looked at the boy, who immediately looked away when he was caught staring. Opening his mouth, Will prepared for the worst.

“That was brave.” He said. “Coming out like that?” He met Will’s eyes. “I’m… impressed.”

“You’re not mad?” Will asked, shocked. Mike blinked.

“Mad? Why would I be mad?”

“Because…” He doesn’t know Will thought He doesn’t know it’s him. A wave of relief and dread washed over him. That was the whole point of coming out. So Mike would know who he liked. But… maybe that was for the best. Maybe they could go back to what they were. Best friends.

Mike watched Will as the words died in his mouth, turning back to face the scene before him once he realized he wasn’t going to be given an answer. They sat in silence for a moment, before Mike asked;

“What’s a Tammy?”

“A Tammy? It’s a… oh. Right. I guess you guys don’t really know about that. A Tammy is someone you loved, but they were just a chapter in your story, you know? The person that you wanted but never had a chance with.”

“Oh.” Mike’s mouth twitched down. “And the person that you liked, they’re your Tammy?”

“Yes, Mike.” He said, annoyed. Will had died and this was hell. The deathpit they were standing in wasn’t helping that idea.

“I get it. I get it, Will. Having a Tammy?”

“How? You’ve only ever dated-”

“El. Yeah. She’s my Tammy. Kind of? I guess I did have a chance with her, though, so not exactly.” Mike blabbered. “I guess what I’m trying to say is that she was only a chapter in my life. And that you aren’t the only one who thought your crush didn’t like you back.”

“What do you mean? Who else could you have possibly liked?”

“Will.” He cut him off, hand moving on top of his as he turned to face Will completely. “Unless I got that confession completely, diabolically wrong, I think what I’m about to do is the right thing.

And then Mike kissed him. It was so simple, yet the most complex feeling Will had ever had as an explosion of colors hit him. He couldn't believe it. Mike's hands were on Will’s neck, his lips on Will’s lips, and he was kissing him. Will’s arms instinctively wrapped around Mike’s back, pulling him closer. The boy he’d wanted for so many years, and in this moment, he was his.

After either a few seconds of a few years, Mike pulled back. He rested his forehead on Will’s, eyes screwed shut.

“Mike.” Will whispered at him. “Look at me.”

He opened his eyes, fear flashing in them. What had he done? “Will, I’m…”

“I love you.” Said Will, heart beating out of his chest.

“Oh my gosh, Will. I love you too. I love you so, so, so, so much.” The faint red flashes around them lit up the tears rolling down Mike’s face. “You have no idea how much I love you.”

“I think I got an idea,” Will laughed as Mike buried his face in the crook of Will’s neck out of embarrassment.

“I love you.” Mike repeated, using the voice that he only had with Will. “I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you.” He punctuated each ‘I love you’ with a kiss somewhere on Will’s face. Will laughed, bringing him back to his lips one last time.

“Okay. We have a battle to win.” Mike grabbed Will’s hand, looking into the eyes of the boy he’s loved for so long.

Notes:

And then they defeated Vecna in a really epic battle that lasted longer than Will coming out, El survived, all the plot holes were explained, and they all lived happily ever after.

Duffer dears, it was THAT easy.
Farewell, Bylers :)
