I never thought I’d update Gotta Get Back To School again, I mean, it’s been absolute ages, but… around two days ago, this fic reached 10000 hits! Thank you so much! I’ve posted another thank you note on Tumblr to properly tag my friend @feathertru, but I wanted to take another opportunity to personally thank every single one of you who read, bookmarked, commented, left kudos or even just interacted with this fic in any way, you all mean so much to me and it fills my heart with such happiness to see this one fic of mine become so loved - you’ve made a childhood dream come true, thank you so much.
But, I have a proposal for you all. This fic was one of my very first multi-chapter works, and as anyone who knows me would tell you, I am not the best at planning, meaning that I did not have an exact plot in mind when I started writing, and I’d never bother to spellcheck before I published, forcing myself to edit chapters sometimes a whole week later, bright red with embarrassment. Writing Gotta Get Back To School taught me so much about fic writing and how to use AO3, but more importantly, it taught me a lot about myself, so, with your permission, I’d like to take another crack at it. This version will still stay up, it’s not going to just disappear on you out of nowhere, but I’d love to try writing this again as a separate fic, with the same sort of plot but perhaps with more chapters so I can properly flesh out the characters. I feel I relied too heavily on jokes in some moments, and I posted that Q&A chapter in a panic when I had nothing else to publish, so if I wrote this fic again I’d tone that sort of thing down. So, are you up for it?
