Chapter Text
(An excerpt from the journals of Wei Wuxian, Leader of YilingWei Sect, formely known as the Yiling Patriarch. )
Waterwheel
An aquatic and rootless carnivorous plant consisting of a central air pod and protruding whorls. The whorls extrudesnapping traps at regular intervals, which capture and digest prey between their lobes. The waterwheel is capable of self-regeneration and protection, with defensive stems that sense and rapidly move toward water currents. It will autocannibalize its own stems if prey is scarce.
Honeylocust Trees
Highly invasive and adaptive hardwood species with protruding thorns as a defensive mechanism. Sticky red sap. Non-native, origins unknown. Found in the perimeter of the Burial Mounds.
Pitcher plants (Nepenthe)
A carnivorous plant that can grow in any soil, as it obtains nutrients from living prey. It grows to match the size of the prey in its environment. The jug-like container is actually a specialized leaf filled with sweet-scented acid, used to lure and dissolve victims. The cycle of resentment helps nurture the Burial Mounds.
