Summary
The people of Paris are hungry for change. A republican revolutionary group made up of students called the Les Amis l'ABC awaits anxiously as pressure swells for the coming rebellion. Meanwhile, Paris' most vulnerable are fighting just to stay alive amidst extreme poverty. Enjolras, a wealthy student and leader of l'ABC, is not only idealistic in his republican ideals but will sacrifice anything for the revolution and his only mistress, France. Éponine however, a once spoiled and wealthy young girl has grown up only to fall to poverty. Living on the streets of Paris, she scrounges to survive the only way she knows how: crime. Enjolras is not often impressed or intimidated by anyone, let alone women, but after meeting Éponine he is challenged like never before. Can this man, handsome and charming, though "very capable of being terrible" finally come to grasp the dark reality of his future, or will his blind faith to the rebellion remain unwavering?

People often asked how Joly and R had met. Usually R made up some story about them meeting through class or something like that as the real story wasn’t his proudest moment. It was not a particularly good introduction on R’s part to say the least.

He doesn't know why he says it. Maybe he's sleep-deprived. Maybe he's finally lost whatever was left of his mind. Standing in the bathroom mirror, he had meant only to type it and then erase it and say something funny instead. Hitting 'send' was an accident. Oh Christ, he's in for it now. Enjolras is already typing. That 'slamming his head into the wall' idea is sounding better by the second.
His phone whooshes with an incoming message.

“So, let me get this straight,” says Combeferre after three rings. He sounds half asleep, and Enjolras winces. “Your crazy ex-convict of a father has decided that Cosette can only date people once you do?”
“Yes.”
There’s the sound of movement as Combeferre unplugs his phone and settles back against his pillows. “And you, somehow—stupidly, I might add—decided to make her happy by agreeing to date someone?”
“Yes.” There’s a very pregnant pause. Enjolras curls and uncurls his hands into fists.
“Right,” says Combeferre. “We’re having this conversation tomorrow.” And then he hangs up.

"Yeah," said Joly, shrugging. "I mean, he lives with me and before about noon, he's allergic to shirts—"
"Why—" said Enjolras weakly.
"I always figured he had a bad shirt experience," Joly offered. "Shirts killed his family, or his first dog got hit by a truck full of shirts."
Enjolras shook his head. His face was a little flushed.
"Ooh, are you experiencing symptoms?" said Joly, brightening. "What's your pulse doing? Are you breathing normally? How do your glands feel?"

Enjolras has not only fake-married an alcoholic annoyance who doesn't take anything he says or does seriously, he somehow did it while Jehan was live-tweeting the civil ceremony. He's fighting for marriage equality, but the evidence overwhelmingly points to the fact that marriage as an institution is dead, and that he has personally helped administer its coup de grâce.
