Summary
Tim is lying in bed, wide awake. It’s early. Like 3 AM early. Tim thinks of all the things he has to do today. He’s got a test on the skeletal system in Mrs. McGregor’s Anatomy class. Then there’s the reading quiz over Chapters 3 - 5 of Animal Farm in Mr. Mickelson’s English class and if he’s being honest with himself, he’s not really prepared for that. Then his American Civil War test in Ms. Burke’s American History class. Why all of his teachers decided today would be a good day for tests, he didn’t know. If Tim were really smart, he’d pay one of the Rogues to stage some kind of attack to give him a day off school. But Tim isn’t smart. Tim is very very dumb. And this very dumb boy is going to go to school today, despite feeling like he’s going to blow chunks.

"Tim is so completely and utterly lost in the feeling of tongue and teeth and lips against his skin that he doesn’t hear the car park in the driveway, nor does he notice the door opening or the footsteps climbing up the stairs. He doesn’t realize his dad is home until Bernard already has Tim’s pants down and is kneeling in front of him as his bedroom door is opened.
Tim comes to awareness too late, and his dad is already standing in the doorway with a stormy expression on his face, taking in the scene in front of him.

"No, you're doing everything. I know that. You've done everything right and given all your effort in every case you've dealt with since I found out you were Red Robin. It isn't your fault, Tim. Don't blame yourself for the deaths."

He has never argued with a punishment, not since he was a toddler, if then. Surely she’ll listen, surely she’ll see this is too harsh, that he wouldn’t be disrespecting her like this if he was simply sulking over not getting his way. He needs that food, needs to be able to eat enough if he wants to be Robin.
He’s been hungry before, but back then, it never mattered if he was a little weak or dizzy. It never risked his life or the life of his partner when he was a kid.
She turns, sighing softly and pursing her lips. She reaches out to pat his cheek, and for a moment his heart soars hopefully, and he barely restrains himself from leaning into the rare bit of contact and soaking up his mother’s touch. “Oh, Timothy,” she tuts. “This is for the best. And honestly, I think it’s wise for you to cut down a bit on the snacks. I’d hate to have to listen to anyone tittering at the next gala that you’re getting chubby.”
And without another backwards glance, she turns and heads upstairs, leaving Tim alone and frozen at the bottom of the steps.

Screaming.Tim was fully cowering. He couldn’t help it. His whole body shaking like a leaf caught in a gale.
“Dad, wait. Please. It’s not like that. I just-I.” There was nothing he could really say.
His dad was across the room and on him in what seemed like barely a second. He grabbed fistfuls of Tim’s t-shirt in his hands and bashed him against the wall.
Tim forced his cry to turn into a gasp.
