He knows exactly how he feels. He feels like doing his hair. He feels like pulling it in a nice braid, the way Donnie showed him. He feels like a touch of dark red shadow over the lids of his eyes is the move, like wearing that one fancy white button down he stole that was, frankly, made for him even if the million cred designer didn’t know it. Like he knows exactly what slacks go with this, actually, and pulls them on. Like strapping three different knives to his thigh if just to draw attention there.
He does his eyeliner sharper than his favorite knives and pulls back to admire the finishing product in his full body mirror.
He feels like a weapon designed specifically to cut down Varian Stone.
And Hugo has always been good at doing exactly what he was designed to do.

Summary
The name is on the tip of Varian's tongue. The syllables press against the back of his teeth, itching to be let out but never taking shape. It's like dust falling softly on a Sunday morning; it's a thousand tons of iron slamming behind his ribs; it's a virus buried in his blood and sinew. He can't explain why he feels so empty without it, like a piece of his soul is missing. He can't help but think he's lost something -- or someone -- very, very important.
Or, Varian wakes up in the body of a boy he's never met in a kingdom he's never visited. He learns to adapt to Hugo's strange lifestyle, clumsily navigating a sense of normalcy with no memory of what happened the day before.
Until the day he can't.

A tragedy in three acts, this is very DIFFERENT, and since I wanted to read something different, I had to write it myself. It turned out darker than my original draft. I like things thrillingly romantic and crushingly sad. Brace yourself for twists and turns. Consider this a rock opera.

Summary
Hugo and Varian are, regrettably, left alone with the caravan, Nuru and Yong leaving to get supplies and have some much needed down time, but Hugo is not interested in actually trying to look after the caravan, so, he drags an unwilling Varian into the forest to check out the place they’ve parked.
They find a stick.
Doesn’t seem to matter.
