The reason Qifrey had stalled on using it was because the spice’s appearance was nearly identical to that of table salt. Frankly, he didn’t want to confront the fact that he might have been scammed. But even if this was just table salt with a new coat of paint, it would still be something to shake up the flavor.
He added about two pinches of it to the pot, not expecting it to do much at all, but hopeful that it would.
After the soup was finished, Qifrey took a seat on the living room couch. He cradled the bowl in his lap while waiting for it to cool down.
After a few minutes, Qifrey blew on his spoon for good measure, and hesitantly took his first bite.
Oh.
Oh stars.
