Peter Parker had always had food issues. He never called them that, because calling them issues meant that he had to admit that something was wrong. But they were always there throughout his entire life, twisting and clawing at him and consuming him with anxiety and fear and dread. As a child he felt like he was drowning in bacon fat and hot fudge sundaes and no, he swore he didn’t have food issues- he couldn’t have food issues.

He felt pin pricks under his skin as Beck traced a single finger from Peter’s forehead, down the slope of his face and across the boy’s lips. Using the rough tips of his fingers, the man forced Peter to open his mouth. The fingers felt like sandpaper and chalk dust against his tongue and drool dripped down his chin and down onto his lap.

If you were dead Daddy would finally be able to come back.” She huffed, sticking out her lip and pouting in a way that made Peter’s heart ache for Mr. Stark. She had his lips and his eyes and every time she stared at him, he felt like he was falling into a pit of depression so deep he could never return from it.

Morgan is too young to understand trauma and expresses her pain by kicking and pinching Peter and telling him that she hates him and wishes he was dead. Peter responds by hating himself as well and also wishing he was dead.

Tony Stark was clearly as broken as Clint was himself, the man simply did not express his hurt in the same way. He was pompous and over generous and snarky and Clint was overwhelmed by how loud and exaggerated the man often acted. But he was also small and soft and sweet and when you caught him at three in the morning, a mug of black coffee burning the insides of his palms and eyes blearily blinking, well those were the moments that Clint connected to Tony most. He saw himself in Tony and sometimes he fleetingly wondered if they should make a club with Bruce titled “Disaster Children of Abusive Fathers”.
