Summary
Toni is not a musical theatre kid, she is not even a fan. But, well, Shelby is. So when auditions for the spring play production of Grease come around and her best friend unsurprisingly gets the part of Sandy, the pure joy on Shelby’s face is enough for her to know she will be watching every single one of her performances. And when they find out, not a minute later, that Andrew, Shelby’s asshole of an ex-boyfriend, got the part of Danny, Toni without hesitation signs up to help out behind the scenes, so Shelby will not be forced to spend time with him on her own.
aka the HSAU where Shelby and Toni are best friends, Shelby is a theatre nerd, has freshly broken up with Andrew and Toni is too whipped and gay and oblivious for her own good.

“I have,” Shelby lets out a frustrated groan. “A couple of times now but how can she possibly believe that I actually mean it and that they’re not just empty promises when just the thought of telling Martha nearly makes me want to vomit.”
“You know there are other things you could do, though, right? Clearly, Toni is not expecting you to confess your love for her on the top of the mountain for all to hear. Maybe come up with something, just for the two of you.” Fatin suggests and while she herself might not have a clear idea of what that could be, Shelby’s head snaps up in realization, staring at the brunette with wide eyes.
“I know what to do.” Shelby says quickly, her mind already racing to figure out the best game plan. “But I might need your help.”aka
