"Screw General Order One." Pike snapped at his first officer.
Yeah, he was going to be hearing about that one later.
A missing scene set during the first episode of Strange New Worlds, after Pike and Co rescue Una and return to the ship but before he heads back down for the greatest speech ever.

"That fact combined with your interest in the colony's de-augmenting process, your superior strength, improved intelligence and reflexes, and the fact that you were the last one left standing on the Enterprise."
She lifted her head and looked directly at Spock, he had her - no point in hiding her reactions now.
"I'm an Illyrian." Una finished for him quietly. Spock's deductions deserved a positive conclusion.
A missing scene/addition for episode 3: ghosts of Illyria. Or - if Spock figured out Una was an Illyrian, and had some advice for a friend.

Summary
"Mmm strawberries. You're a saint La'an."
The security officer smiled and plopped the bowl between them partly out of view from wandering eyes. She too plucked one from the bowl. "Got to make sure we keep up your strength, can't have you down here too long."
Una licked the strawberry juice off her fingers and threw her friend a knowing look. "Is it that bad being acting first officer?"
A missing scene from episode 4 'memento mori', featuring Number One and La'an. A little, well a lot of comfort is required after that episode. I'm so proud of La'an for facing her past like that, and I feel Una would be too.

Summary
"Are you okay?" Her soft query resonated around the empty bay, it was enough to startle Pike out of his reverie.
The Captain flicked his eyes up and zeroed in on her wounded side, seeing how she was still supporting herself. A heavy frown pulled at his brow, and he shook his head a little.
"I should be asking you that, how the hell did you get M'Benga to release you?"
Missing scene between Pike and Una from strange new worlds episode 4 - memento mori.

Summary
“Spock?” He probed, hoping that some of his people had at least been somewhat competent.
His fears disappeared when Spock turned to him, all of his mannerisms and movements familiar. Including the twitch at the young Vulcan’s lips, betraying Spock’s desire to tease him. “Chris.” He tried, his voice nowhere near as pitched as it should be.
Pike laughed whilst shaking his head, “Nice try Spock, but T’Pring sounded different.” He noted Spock’s usual stance and added, “and no offence, but she’s a lot more graceful.”
The Vulcan’s brow rose as he catalogued the criticism. He broke out into a rare smile, lasting only a few seconds like a B’Saarian Orchid, fleeting yet magnificent and well worth the wait.
Spock tried out one of the many human idioms that he had been cataloguing. “It was worth a shot.”

Summary
Chris frowned heavily and sat upright on the barstool - relaxed frame completely disappearing. "What exactly do the crew say?"
Una felt some of the levity leave the small kitchenette. She licked her lips and repeated the nickname. "Where fun goes to die."
Pike didn't say anything at first, but he wasn't laughing which was the reaction most people had to this. Una scrambled, she wasn't bothered about it anymore. "It's okay Chris, it's just a silly nickname. It doesn't bother me."
Chris exhaled slowly, something in his gaze flickered and he tried to control it. "That's hardly the point Una, what people are saying..." His steely eyes pierced hers. "it's unkind."
A missing scene for episode 5. Una and Chris catchup and Chris shows his first officer that he has her back, always.

Summary
Here was a woman who could turn the most charming Captain into a bumbling Lieutenant in seconds, a man who had faced down countless enemies and diplomats reduced to stammering over his own words like a love-sick teen. Una hadn't seen him this nervous in years, she must be someone special.
"So, Alora."
It was like breaking a spell, one minute he was transfixed on the image but now he was shrinking back into his seat with a guilty look - like that time she caught him sneaking Andorian ale into the Christmas punch. A flush crept up his neck and Chris pulled at his collar. "What about her?"
Or Una teases Chris about his crush on Alora, that introudction was just too cute!

"You can say it."
She frowned, not quite what she'd expected for his opening salvo.
"Say what?"
Pike looked her dead in the eye, his face drawn and eyes red.
"That if I thought with my head rather than my pants, then that child would still be alive."
So, it was going to be one of those conversations.
Una took a long draught of her drink, the whiskey burning a path down her throat, pleasant but unforgiving. He obviously had penance on his mind.

Summary
“There you are.” She strode into his personal quarters without so much as blinking, eyes fixed on his face. “I’ve been looking for you all over.”
Spock tilted his head a little, a smile tugged at his lips against his wishes. “I did not realise I was being hunted." Why did he find himself so at ease with this human?
Against all possibility, Christine’s grin brightened. Dressed in white as she was, with her platinum blond hair against the backdrop of his darkened quarters, Spock could see how a human could describe her as a visiting angel. Not him of course, but another could have.
"Careful Spock, don't tempt me."

La'an stabbed a fork into her own dish and then used the instrument to gesture to the mess hall. "Don't ever let your guard down in the feeding grounds."
Uhura resisted the urge to groan, instead, she mentally added the rule to her list - La'an was nice that way, sprinkling wisdom out when she caught you doing something she would never do.
Nyota forced on a weary smile. "Let me guess, rule number 4? Or maybe 5."
La'an's eyes brightened and she shook her head with a laugh. "No, that one's just a life rule."

"Can't you talk to him?" Erica suggested, shrugging her shoulders helplessly.
Chapel barked a laugh, leaning back in her chair with her arms crossed, the last shield she had left. "And say what? Hey, Spock I know you're engaged to be married and all, but I have a crush on you so wanna hook up?"
Ortegas winced and physically recoiled from the barb, but her hooded eyes continued to seek a way through her friend's meagre defences. "Is that what this is, just a crush?"
No.
"Yes."

"I confided in them, allowing them to expertly manipulate me, I put the ship and crew in jeopardy."
"Pretty sure the pirates handled the jeopardy bit."
Pike's attempt to defuse fell on deaf ears.

A more direct approach then.

"You're late, very unlike you." Una probed.
"I couldn't find a clean uniform, mine were all suddenly covered in tiny hairs."
"Tiny hairs?"
La'an shrugged. "Hell if I know where they came from, but my whole quarters seems to be covered in dog hairs."
Pike leaned over the counter, elbows on the work surface. "You don't think we have any unexpected passengers?"

She saw the blue shirt first, followed it up to a moustache and knew who had scared the hell out of her - George Samuel Kirk.
He held up his hands, managing a nervous smile. "Sorry, didn't mean to scare you."
Chapel wasn't one to mince words at the best of times, but after the day she'd had? There was no way she wasn't snapping at this man.
"I'm not the one you should be apologising to."

Summary
Spock eyed the blinking light for a moment. He shouldn't listen to the message now, not with his mind being so out of control. The logical thing to do would be to delay until a further date but Spock was not feeling very logical. Curiosity urged him onwards, so he played the recording.
It was audio-only.
"If you are receiving this message then it is because I have met my end. Or the automatic protocol has broken, in which case remind me to fix it immediately."
The warm sound of Hemmer's laughter echoed around the ruined quarters, Spock's lips twitched towards a smile - this time he let them.

"He was one hell of an engineer," Chris muttered against her raven hair.
Una sniffed and choked out a laugh all at once. "Damn right he was."
Chris felt Una squeeze his chest and knew their embrace was coming to an end. He relished in the comfort before it disappeared, these precious moments with his Number One so fleeting. He inhaled deeply before letting go, strawberry and rose fragrances battled with the smell of cooking. Omelettes. She smelled of his kitchen and wasn't that a memory to hold onto.

Summary
The two women stood a metre apart, hands hanging loosely by their sides, in silence. Una opened her mouth but promptly closed it again, she didn't have anything to say. After all these years you'd think that saying goodbye would get easier but it didn't, the word lodged in her throat and now she was choking on it.
La'an started to tap at the shuttle panel as the silence stretched, Una was no better - she drummed her fingers against her thigh and had to seriously resist the temptation to move.
La'an snapped to the movement, looked at her hand and realised they were both being idiots. Her lips curved upwards and she crossed her arms tightly. "So, we haven't gotten any better at this."
Una laughed, and the anxious tightness in her chest loosened. "No, we haven't."

Erica noticed the tremble and she snapped her focus back to their little booth, Spock and Kirk forgotten. "If you're up to it, I recommend you book in with the recovery service tonight. It might help, a little."
Another thing she did not want to face even though she knew Erica was completely correct.
"I'll try." Uhura gently bit her lip, her brow furrowed inwards. "The Captain made the sessions mandatory so I've got to face it sometime."
"He's such a dad sometimes," Ortegas sighed appreciatively, looking upwards to salute the air with her glass. "and I love him for it. I say let the head-shrinkers do some shrinking."

Summary
He could feel it beneath his feet - the gentle hum of Enterprise's warp core, a vibration he could read and understand just as well as any horse. The minuscule waves radiated up his body, Captain Pike revelled in the feeling. His ship was healthy, running at peak efficiency and most importantly of all Enterprise hadn't been crippled by Romulans. He hoped his decision meant it never would.
Ping.
Pike's eyes slid right - to the popup message, pulled out of the mundane day-to-day by something really worth smiling about.

Summary
Batel interrupted his defence, not unkindly but with a quiet determination. "I don't like it either but I have orders." He would get no favours from her.
That was when he saw the blur of red pass his shoulder; he didn't even think he just reacted, his hand shooting out to twist the officer's wrist into an unyielding joint lock. All he could think of was Una, she was being taken away from him and he couldn't let that happen. He wouldn't let history repeat itself. He doubled down on the lock and watched the security officer buckle under the pressure stopping the grim procession in its tracks. This was his ship dammit, his first officer, his friend. Why was it all slipping away from him?
"Captain."
