That being said, she's still a part of her class so when she finds Chloe crying in a bathroom, well Marinette admits she can't just leave her there. Especially not with Hawk Moth taking every chance he gets to akumatize someone. The thing is, usually Chloe's not the victim in most situations.
This time though, well, this time's different. And to Marinette's surprise, the blonde's achingly lonely and longing for a parent who never pays attention to her. And doesn't that situation sound achingly familiar, she thinks with a sigh.

“No, no, I understand perfectly,” Marinette said. “Run that one by me again? So… why me? Why not her mom? Doesn’t she work for the Italian embassy? Her phone number should be posted on their website right?”
She nodded.
“...but, if… if her emergency contact is me… I… Sorry, this is just a bit to take in,” Marinette said, to the voice at the other end of the line. “She and I… we’re not exactly what’d you call the best of friends, if we’re being delicate about it.”
That was a bit of an understatement if there ever was one, Lila hated her. Well, she hated Ladybug, but Marinette got the feeling that Lila wasn’t particularly fond of her either.
“What hospital…? Hold on, let me write this down… No, I’ll be there as soon as I can,” Marinette said, with a nod trying to hold back a sigh of resignation. “I’d rather be there to tell you all of this in person, honestly.”

Marinette knew better, of course. Alya's parents didn't care about her impressing them, she'd already proven what a good match for Alya she was plenty of times. It's her anxieties of course, getting the better of them. Telling her nerves to calm themselves, she opened the front door and pulled herself into Alya's arms. Family dinner night at her girlfriend's, she'd faced akumas. Somehow she was wishing for one to appear right now, those at least she knew how to handle.
