Summary
"Yeah, I'm a pirate," Kid said with a humorless grin. "Got a problem with that?"
Yamato tilted his head to the side. "A problem? Why would it be a problem?"
If anybody asked him—not that people usually cared about his opinion—there wasn't much that was better than being a pirate. To have the freedom to go wherever you wanted, whenever you wanted? To live with a family you'd chosen, rather than one that had been thrust upon you? Sounded like a dream to him.
Kid let out a harsh laugh that soon turned into a painful-sounding cough. Once he'd recovered enough to catch his breath, he asked, "You don't get out much, do you?"

Summary
With a sigh, Killer washed his hands and turned to Kid. “What is it?”
“Nothing,” Kid said, then seemed to realize Killer would never buy that. “Do you think—should we be less, you know?”
He made a vague gesture with his hand and although Killer could usually read Kid like an open book, he had no idea what he meant this time.
“Less what?”
“You know what I mean, Killer! We’ve got a bunch of new people in the crew. Maybe Heat and Wire don’t give a shit if I blow you on the deck but what are the others gonna think?”

Summary
Kaku should’ve been calm—this was what he’d been training for ever since he could remember. And it wasn’t like he hadn’t seen people die before, things went wrong on missions all the time and plans had to be adjusted. Kaku had no issue with death or the concept of killing someone. In theory. Except now he was expected to turn theory into practice.

Summary
Kid turned to Law who finally closed his book with a sigh. “You know what it’s like, learning to live with the loss of a limb. Don’t you wish you’d had someone to talk to?”
Kid noted that Law was smart enough to pick his words carefully, instead of using disability or some other loaded word that would've given Kid an excuse to start an argument and stomp off in anger.
“I had you. And Killer.”
“You know what I mean. Someone with personal experience.”

Summary
“Did one of them do this?” Denjiro asked, nodding at her bandaged leg.
“Of course not,” she said.
But they might as well have, she thought as she picked up a petal from the grass, crushing it between her fingers. She’d needed a break, but there was no break to be had, not without a legitimate medical reason.
"Komurasaki," he said, then shot a glance around to make sure the others were too far to hear. "Hiyori, did you do this?"

Summary
Kid didn't even attempt to hide the way he was looking Law up and down. His eyes scanned over Law's crotch and stopped there, his mouth curving into a smirk. "Nice piercing you've got there."
Law narrowed his eyes. "Don't know what you're talking about."
"You can act coy. But you can't hide something like that from me."
"Your ability," Law surmised easily.
He liked to be prepared for every eventuality and had spent some time analyzing Kid's abilities and fighting technique after seeing them firsthand. However, that had been in anticipation of potentially having to go against him in a fight and thus he had overlooked how the powers might benefit Kid in… other situations.

Summary
Long days in the sun had turned Kaku's skin a beautiful brown and he seemed to radiate vitality. Kalifa couldn't tear her eyes off the bead of sweat running down his sharp collarbone.
She licked her lips, not caring if she smeared her lipstick. Beside her, Lucci's breathing had picked up—she could almost smell his arousal in the air.
“Would he fuck me if I asked,” Kalifa murmured, “what do you think?”

Summary
The last item was a worn out book that looked like it’d been read by the whole crew. A few more reads and it was bound to fall apart entirely.
"Must be a good book to look that shit," Killer commented, eyeing the faded cover.
"What's it about?" Dive asked.
"Don't tell me you can't read?" Killer said, raising an eyebrow.
