Summary
The very first time Suguru had noticed that something is off with Satoru was in the room with the Star members, where Satoru had asked him if they should simply kill them all.
Suguru had understood that urge, better than Satoru might think, even though he did tell him not to do it, but what he didn’t understand was the muttered “Maybe I should give them something in return, a little peace offering”.
When Suguru asked about that strange utterance Satoru had simply stared at him until Suguru changed the subject but even though it went ignored it was never forgotten.
Something is off with Satoru and it’s starting to freak Suguru out.

Summary
When Satoru wakes up, it’s with a smile. For the first time in four years he wakes up feeling content and happy and finally settled again, because Suguru came back. Suguru came back to him and things finally feel right again.
That feeling of contentment, of rightness lasts for as long as Satoru needs to open his eyes, because when he does he is only met with the empty side of his bed and once his brain comprehends that sight, there’s a flash of pain so acute that it almost feels like being carved open again before everything goes numb.
Suguru is gone.

Summary
Suguru is having a bad day. In all honesty, he’s having a bad week, but he tries not to think too much about why that is. Today though, today has been very bad and it’s all he can think about when he comes home.
The fact that Satoru doesn’t bound up to him to greet him only serves to sour his mood more, but it’s the reality Suguru has been living with for the last two weeks at least.
And that’s the problem.
Satoru won’t touch him anymore; hell, he barely even spends time together with Suguru and Suguru misses him like one would a missing limb.

Summary
Suguru takes a second curse as soon as he sat down next to the toilet and swallows that, too, a third following quickly.
Satoru watches him, completely enraptured by the sight and it’s only when Suguru glares at him that he realises that he’s staring.
“What are you looking at?” Suguru bites out and Satoru presses his lips together so the immediate answer of ‘You’ doesn’t slip out.
In all honesty, though, Satoru wouldn’t even know how to put it into words, what it is he’s looking at, what he wants. Because how do you explain to your best friend that you might be fantasising about turning into a curse yourself just so that he can swallow you whole, so that you can live inside of him, safely nestled in his cursed energy.
The thought alone makes Satoru blush; there’s no way he could ever say those words to Suguru.

“Huh?” Satoru gets out, his insides turning to ice over the situation he’s being presented with.
“You have to know who he’s married to, you two are inseparable,” Kugisaki chimes in now. “Fushiguro says he’s not married at all but we saw the ring and Geto-sensei knows we saw the ring and he only smiled that stupid sweet smile of his when we asked, so there has to be someone. And you need to tell us who it is.”
Suguru is married. Suguru is married. Suguru is married.
It doesn’t compute.

Summary
Suguru learned to be okay with his life—for the most part—but sometimes he really fucking hates it. Hates his technique and his body and is weakness and lately, he most of all hates the fact that he wants to have Satoru around all the time because that only makes the other things worse.
Satoru is in perfect control of his techniques, after everything that happened with Toji and Riko, and he’s not shy to boast about it, too.
Which only makes Suguru feel even more inadequate because he barely has a grasp on his technique and most definitely no control at all, as the spikes showing up in random places on his body are currently proving.

Summary
Suguru thinks that his hand should be shaking. It’s coated in blood, warm and sticky, but the knife in his hand is steady, as if it didn’t just claim two lives.
As if Suguru didn’t just kill two people.
Maybe something is wrong with him, he thinks and remembers all the times the other kids in school have talked behind his back. Maybe they were on to something, if he can kill two people and not feel a single thing.
Maybe people were right about him, he thinks, when the shaking only sets in when he remembers that he won't be able to see Satoru after this anymore.

Summary
Satoru behaved strangely even before he went out, but now that he’s back, something is definitely off.
Suguru had moved his reading to his reading chair eventually, but when Satoru texted him that he’s on his way back–way before dinner–Suguru moved back to the couch, to be in perfect touching proximity for Satoru.
Now Satoru has been home for almost half an hour, and he’s passed the couch and Suguru’s spot on there several times already and not once has he reached out for Suguru.
No trailing fingertips, no hair playing, not even any head pats.
Something is bothering Satoru, Suguru is sure of it.

“I’m not what?”
“An alpha. You’re an omega, Satoru,” Suguru gives back and he wonders how he even knows that.
No one can tell the orientation of someone who hasn’t yet presented; there’s no way to predict it, no indicator that points towards anything, no gene that can be analysed.

“Suguru, hello,” Satoru greets Suguru a day later, with no annoying Nanami breathing down his neck and he enjoys the way his familiar approach briefly makes Suguru’s steps falter.
“Satoru, was it? What happened to Nanami?” he asks, clearly confused by Satoru’s presence, but Satoru will get him used to this soon.
He has all the morning shifts now, after all.
“He had to change shifts, which is why I’m going to be here from now on!”
“I see,” Suguru gives back, a small smile curling around his mouth and Satoru knows that he already has him half charmed.

“Huh?” he very eloquently asks because surely he must be mistaken.

Summary
Unease settles around Suguru as he remembers Satoru’s manic laughter as he beats curses to a pulp and the fact that his own energy was barely distinguishable from that of the curse makes Suguru sick to his stomach.
He needs to find out what’s going on, or otherwise Satoru might leave him soon and Suguru isn’t sure he could stand that.
Satoru should be in his room, waiting for him after the latest mission so Suguru hurries, his feet carrying across school faster than they usually do and when he storms into his room, Satoru is stretched out on the bed. He looks over at Suguru when he enters, but even that is somehow wrong, because his body goes still for a moment, tightly controlled before it seems as if he spills himself out over the bed again and Suguru sits down where he stands.
Satoru is off.

“Why don’t you just—feed?”
“On what? Did you not listen, there are no more blood bags.”
“But—Shoko is there. I am right here. We go down into the city several times a week. You could easily find someone to feed on. How are you not feeding at all?”
Satoru reels back as if he’s been hit at those questions, before a look of pure hurt flashes over his face. It’s almost enough to make Suguru take back whatever hurtful thing he just said, but in the end the confusion wins out.
“Satoru—”
“You could have just said that you want me gone,” Satoru suddenly hisses out and Suguru is horrified to see tears in his eyes. “Why would you say these things? Is this a test? Are you going to call my Clan the minute I say yes?”

“Satoru, what is this?” Suguru wearily asks and Satoru gives him his most winning smile.
“Naoya had a very nice theory. Come on, Naoya, you were so adamant earlier. Repeat yourself. What was it you said?”
“I said,” Naoya gets out, his teeth tightly clenched, “that Geto is cheating on you. With them,” he nods towards the girls and Satoru has to give it to them, they recover remarkably fast, because they both instantly make heart eyes at Suguru.
“Oh, Geto-sama, we know you love us. Don’t worry about a thing, we know you wanted to leave this guy for us, we love you, too!” the blond girl immediately croons out and Satoru laughs brightly as he plops himself down next to Suguru.

Summary
“I’m back,” Satoru says, even though it’s not necessary and with a shake of his shoulders he finally drops Infinity.
He could have done that when he entered the school grounds, but in all honesty, it only ever feels safe to do with Suguru.
Satoru is still watching Suguru, so he sees how his warm and welcoming smile falters for the briefest of moments, before he fixes it back into place. Normally, Satoru wouldn’t even notice something like that but he notices everything that has to do with Suguru, so it doesn’t escape his notice.
“You okay?” he asks, because how else is he going to get an answer but Suguru only continues to smile at him.
It doesn’t even seem forced.

Summary
Suguru is an insanely private person, Satoru had enough time by now to realise that. Sure, Suguru talks about what he likes and dislikes and he shares funny little thoughts with Satoru, but he never ever talks about his childhood, his parents or any other relatives.
Satoru knows that Suguru is living alone, even though he’s never been to his place, and that’s all, really.
It’s not that he minds it, much. Suguru is his best friend, despite the obvious holes in his lives and even though he never talks about any of that Satoru doesn’t feel as if he’s being kept out of the loop or if Suguru is keeping secrets from him.
Suguru is still the person Satoru trusts most. It just seems like maybe Satoru isn’t the one Suguru trusts the most because he very adamantly does not want to talk about why he looks like shit.

“People do like you,” he then agrees because generally they truly do. As long as Satoru even cares a little bit what someone thinks about him, he turns up the charm and then there’s hardly anyone who is not at least a little enamoured with him. “And why shouldn’t they,” Suguru then goes on. “You’re cute, after all.”
There’s no teasing tone to his voice as he says this, because it’s the truth and Suguru can’t quite bear to tease Satoru about something like that but he was absolutely not prepared for the way Satoru goes bright red in the face, opening and closing his mouth like a fish and for a split second Suguru fears that there’s steam going to come out of his ears.
And then Satoru teleports away.
