Aizen happens.

Ichigo is isolated, Karakura has incentive to become something more, and things go a little sideways as a matter of course.

Or: Karakura is more than a town and Ichigo has a protector that's finally able to help.

Notes:

These works are set post volume 48/whatever chapter that is, and Aizen has been defeated, with Ichigo losing his power due to his use of the Final Getsuga, as in canon.

Chronologically, So Long starts with the immediate loss of Ichigo's powers and continues until about the summer of the following year. Then Driving Me Home is a more or less a sequel with some time skipped, still in Ichigo/Karakura's pov.

It's Been Good starts the "Human" (Ishida, Orihime, and Chad's) viewpoints. They should all begin at approximately the same time.

Part four, which is currently being written, will cover the "Shinigami's" viewpoints, starting with Rukia's.

This series, particularly the portion involving the "Humans" was inspired by cywscross's Wanderlust.
