Haymitch wanted nothing to do with a so called ‘soul family’. Hadn’t so much as glanced at the marks since he was sixteen. His actual family was dead, and that was that. No more to it.

Finnick didn’t know who the fuck his soul family were. Haymitch Abernathy, sure, for all the man worked to push everything and everyone away. But the others? The curses weren’t common per say. Certainly more common in the Arena, if a tribute lived that long. They seemed to be a war remnant – something newer, younger families simply didn’t have. An uncommonality dying out as soon as it arrived. Lingering within a few generations, then gone.
