Summary
“—you know, they call him the treasure of Japanese soccer—”
“Treasure?” Nagi interrupts, all thoughts of the shorter article leaving his mind. He frowns, finally glancing back at the main picture. “This chibi?” he asks, and he can't help the hint of derision slipping in his tone as he eyes the black-haired player in the picture.
"No, no," Reo corrects, tapping his finger on the second figure in the picture. "The good-looking one."
Nagi blinks slowly. "Good-looking," he repeats, and Reo's eyes dart to him before darting away back to the picture.
"Err, yeah," Reo starts. "You know, handsome. Kind of in foreign-looking way, right?"
Nagi doesn't see it. He bites his tongue before he can say as much, but he can't help but prod for more information anyway. "Is it the hair?"

Summary
“Are all your birthdays like this?” Nagi asks, and when Reo glances at him, he’s watching Reo with a curious expression.
“Yeah,” Reo admits, pulling his gaze away to squint at the few visible stars in the distance. “They’re not so much birthday celebrations as they are networking opportunities.”
Nagi hums. “Sounds like a pain.”
Reo snorts at that. “It is,” he agrees, “but I got used to it after a while.”
Nagi’s silent for a short pause. “You shouldn’t have to.”
“Oh?” Reo asks, turning back to Nagi with his eyebrows raised. When he sees the almost grim set to Nagi’s expression, he can’t help but laugh lightly. “Anyway, this year is different.”
“Different?”
“Yeah.” He nudges Nagi with his shoulder. “You’re here, after all.”

Summary
“Ah! Reo Mikage, right?”
Nagi watches the smile on Reo’s face falter for half a second. Reo always hates this part of meeting someone new—Nagi’s watched him introduce himself to enough people to catch the barely noticeable shift in Reo’s expression whenever his full name with the permanent attachment of “Mikage” is mentioned. Nagi sometimes wonders if Reo would prefer a different family name. Maybe something more like “Nagi.”
Nagi’s getting distracted. He tunes back in to see Reo nod.
“I’ve heard a lot about you,” Nishida starts, and Nagi resists the urge to roll his eyes. Here it comes, Nagi thinks. “You want to win the World Cup, right?”
…that’s new.
Reo’s eyebrows raise in surprise. “Yeah,” he agrees. “I’m taking this team to nationals, and then I’m winning the World Cup.”
“With me,” Nagi interrupts before he’s even realized that he’s stepped forward. “Right, Reo?”

Summary
“Reo,” he says, squinting at Reo with a narrowed gaze. “Reo.”
“...is that the only thing he says when he’s drunk?” Chigiri asks. “Your name?”
I hope so, Reo doesn’t say. It’s been nearly a year since Nagi last got drunk, and yet the memory remains crystal clear in Reo’s mind. But surely Nagi’s tolerance had improved since then, right?
“He just doesn’t like it when I’m not…” Reo trails off. He places his hand back on Nagi’s head, and Nagi quietens with a soft sigh. “See?”
Chigiri stares at him with something akin to horror and maybe a bit of pity. “I need another drink,” he declares, reaching for the bottle again.

Summary
“Nagi. Truth or dare?”
Can these people shut the fuck up?
Nagi slowly turns back to stare at them blankly. He’s been told on more than one occasion that his flat stare can be terrifying in the right context, but whatever that context is, this must not be it, because all three NPCs only continue watching him with their same curious stares. Nagi sighs, closes his eyes, and thinks of how disappointed Reo would be if he had to bail Nagi out of jail on triple murder charges.
“Dare,” Nagi mutters, just because he wants an excuse to get out of this stuffy room with these horrible people. Hopefully they would dare him to… walk outside of the classroom and stay there.
When he catches the look on NPC 1’s face, he thinks he might have miscalculated.
“Hmm,” he begins ostentatiously. “Say, Nagi… you’re real close with that Mikage kid, right?”

Summary
“What the HELL is that,” Reo wheezes out. “Chigiri, what—what is that—”
Chigiri glances at his phone. “Oh,” he says blandly. “Yeah, didn’t I tell you they primarily make ship art?” He squints at Reo. “This isn’t the first time you’ve seen a ship account, why are you acting so—”
“They drew Nagi,” Reo shrieks, pointing an accusing finger at Chigiri’s phone, “shoving me into a wall—”
“It’s called a kabedon,” Chigiri says unhelpfully. Reo’s mouth flaps open and closed. Chigiri sighs. “Why are you so scandalized by this? I’ve seen you not even flinch at stuff way more scandalous than this.”
“Because it’s Nagi,” Reo stresses. “Give—give me the phone back—” He scrabbles for the phone in Chigiri’s hands, and once he’s got a hold of it, he brings it close to his face so that his nose nearly touches the screen. “And we’re kissing?”

Summary
“You’ve got really soft hair,” Reo remarks one day, his fingers trailing through Nagi’s locks as Nagi rests his head against the desk. Nagi makes a vague noise of confusion, and with a light laugh, Reo lifts his hand. “It’s kind of unfair. You don’t even have to put effort into it.”
Nagi doesn’t know how to ask for Reo to go back to petting Nagi’s hair without sounding desperate, so he simply lets out a long sigh before lifting his head up. “What?” he asks when he finds Reo still staring at him strangely.
“You’re attractive,” Reo blurts out. “You know that, right?”
Nagi blinks slowly. “What?”
“You know,” Reo starts, his cheeks beginning to color. “Like, in a casual way. You know?” He looks away. “I read something about the effortlessly attractive aesthetic once,” Reo continues, his voice dropping in volume until it dissolves into unintelligible mumbles.
Nagi has no idea what Reo is talking about. Reo, calling him attractive? Did Reo hit his head?
Nagi leans in closer to squint at Reo. “Did you hit your head?”
