Summary
“You’re the brat’s favorite,” Garp says, in the tone of voice he uses when he thinks someone’s stupid. Ace normally rears up in anger when he uses that tone, but this time, what Garp said has him blinking at him in shock.
Ace says blankly, “I’m his favorite?” Well, Ace guesses, it does make sense – Luffy doesn’t really have anyone else that stays with him. Garp’s never here, Dadan doesn’t really care about them, or at least not enough to stay around them all the time, and Makino- well. She’s amazing, but she can’t be there all the time. Still, though- “Why?”
This time, Garp turns around fully to look at Ace. “Why?” He asks incredulously. “You’re his brother and he loves you, duh.”
Ace’s brain stalls.

Summary
Soon, the docks come into view, and Sabo's breath catches in his throat.
There, just before the horizon, sails an instantly-recognizable ship. Sabo’s blood freezes in his veins, and he lets out a string of curses before he yanks the snail back out. “Hack!” He barks. “I need scouts and a ship at the north docks right now!”
“Got it!”
Sabo hangs up immediately after, and can only stare helplessly as a slave ship sails away, more than likely holding his best friend.

Luffy lets out one last breath. His hand slips from Ace’s face. His head falls back limply, a small smile on his face.
And something in Ace shatters.

A smile spreads across Luffy’s face, and it’s almost unnatural with how wide it is. Ace has seen Luffy smile a million times, but- none have looked like this.

Alex winces as Strawhat yells at the top of his lungs. “Anchor!” Red-Hair yells back, just as loudly and just as cheerfully. Alex blinks at the nickname.
Strawhat honest-to-god pouts. “I’m Pirate King now! You can’t keep calling me Anchor!” He whines. Red-Hair just laughs and walks over.
“You still can’t swim! That makes you an anchor in my mind.” Strawhat pouts more, and Red-Hair reaches over to ruffle Strawhat’s hair. There’s a sense of affection in the gesture. Alex blinks, and shakes themself from their nerves. They have a job to do.
“So you two know each other?” They ask. Red-Hair and Strawhat both turn to look at Alex, tilting their heads identically.
“Who are you?”
