Summary
“Shit, shit,” Buck cursed as he popped the hood of his Jeep. He had originally thought, hoped, that the battery had just died, maybe needing a quick jumpstart. If he was lucky, he might even be able to find someone nearby who would be willing to give him one.
But as with everything that had happened to him in the past four months, he was not lucky. In fact, he was on the far low end of the ‘lucky’ scale, if the black burn marks on the ends of his car battery meant anything. It was definitely more than dead. It was dead-dead.
Instead of winding up as a firefighter in Los Angeles, Buck found himself in Chicago.
