It’s been rocky. He’s not sure where the two of them stood now. Flashes of his lab pierce through him, stacks of papers, smashed stray tubes from inattentiveness, the cold air conditioning. Lukey buried himself in his work. Pangi knows that too.
Breathing into the sky, he kept his throat in the open. They hadn’t talked about what happened, and honestly? He’s not sure he could mentally do it. The air was still fresh from the rain. His nose was cold, and he just wanted to sit with Pangi. He wanted to sit in silence, enjoying each other's presence, no guilt, no anxiety. They’ve never had that in the entirety of knowing each other. They’ve never had that peace, that calm appreciation of being together. Lukey isn’t sure they’ll ever get it. He’s not sure if he’s foolish for wishing.

“I don’t know!”, Pangi tightened his hold, digging his nails into Pili’s side before relaxing, rubbing the area as he winced. “I don’t know what I’m doing!”, another yell ripped through him. “I’m scared, Pili,” he whispered.
Sighing, Pili slowly removed himself from him. Pangi could tell he was being careful; it made him anxious. He was sitting up, crossing his legs in the small space. His room wasn’t necessarily big enough for two people on the floor, his desk taking up most of his space. It didn’t stop Pili from pushing for more space. He placed his hands on his knees.

Laughing, Pangi backed away to look at him. “What happened?”
Lukey cradled his face, wiggling in his grasp. “You’re holding me down.”

He gave him his doe eyes, wrapping his legs around Pangi’s hips. Lukey angled Pangi’s head lower, making him look at his body trapping Lukey. Pangi’s breath got caught as he dug his fingernails into his hips. He didn’t even try to contain his moan.
“You’re a freak,” chuckling, Pangi looked back at him, his pupils completely blown out. Pushing his hands harder against him, Lukey thudded his head against the car window. He appreciated the dull ache.

Nudging his foot away, Lukey stared at their feet before glaring back at him. “Why do I even try?”, he spat. Pangi flinched back, his foot sliding from its position. Only slightly.
“...What?”
Running his hands through his hair, Lukey took a deep breath, his shoulders trembling before returning eye contact. Pangi felt scared. “I don’t know what we are! You don’t even want to tell me!”, Lukey was raising his voice. “I don’t know what you want me to do, Pangi. I really don’t.”
“I-”, Pangi couldn’t blink, the corners of Lukey’s eyes growing wet. He got a cold chill down his spine.
Lukey started laughing, coughing up snot before going back. It didn’t sound like his usual giggles, and it didn’t bring any feelings of happiness into him. “We are nothing,” Lukey was smiling, stray tears falling. “We’ve always been nothing, Pangi.”

Blinking, Pangi tried to digest the formal tone. It felt… impersonal, professional. It was as if they were discussing a contract for a business deal and not talking about their love life. “Uhhh–”, Pangi couldn’t find a single thought appropriate for this conversation. Sniffling, Lukey wiped his face, coughing away some tears. “I can’t.”

Lukey walked to him before wrapping his arms around his neck. His face was close, still rosy from the chill outside. His eyebrows were scrunched, and his stupidly cute pout was back. Knocking their shoulders, Newt grinned at him. "Ready to go home?”
Rolling his eyes, Lukey leaned his weight on Newt, trying to walk with his chin on his shoulder. “Hmm,” almost tripping them over, Lukey snickered. “If we have to,” he groaned, straightening up.
Giggling, Newt shoved him, softly, before nodding.
“On one condition,” Lukey stepped in front of him, walking backwards as they’re leaving the school. Newt raises his eyebrows, using his hands on Lukey’s forearms to steer him away from objects. “We go to the library.”
Looking at him with a blank expression, Newt continued to watch him. A mischievous smile stayed on Lukey’s face the more he walked, using the environment in front of him to navigate them to the library. Huffing, Newt shakes his head. “If we must.”
