“Oh, you oblivious child…” Mae whispered— no idea if it was aimed at me or herself.
I looked at her questioningly and that seemed to wake her up as she stopped patting my shoulder. “You know what? I'm tired.” She suddenly said. “I wish you luck with the rest of your day.” She then held a firm grip at both of my shoulders as she kept her gaze on eye level.
