In a story for Whumptober 2025 Captain Arthur Gore is assigned to command and recruit an execution squad for the Ministry of Intelligence, as needed in the secret prison complex. No one likes to do it, but occasionally it must be done. Thirty years later, these men meet for a drink, because they have been visited by a Time Traveller, who sure looks a whole lot like a younger Arthur Gore, and is asking about these specific executions. Which no one should know about.

Summary
In the book, The Ministry of Time by Kaliane Bradley, we meet Graham Gore, an Arctic explorer and Navy Lieutenant Commander, pulled off the ice by a time machine, and his "bridge" the un-named narrator of the story. Also, there is Adela, a Vice-Secretary of the Ministry of Time and slowly there is a creeping realization who she really is. At the end of the story she lets it be known that she is married to the very first Graham Gore who was taken off the ice, and that they have a son. A few other hints have been laid about Adela as the first bridge and her husband being the first Graham and it is so tempting to explore their story, which would be completely different than the one told about the two main characters in the book. So, four chapters. The first is Graham waking up in the Wards. The second is about their first time making love with each other, The third will be about how he negotiated their future, and the fourth how the two of them will walk into that future, together.

Summary
In my original story, Arthur John Gore lives a long life in the original timeline of The Ministry of Time by Kaliane Bradley. At the end, the future sends him as a Time Traveller to the past in order to try to save the world from ecological disaster. There he meets the one successful set of the duplicates of his own parents, the Admiral and Adela.
A Ghost Story brings together two characters who do not meet in the original book. They are Graham's Bridge and Adela's husband, the first Graham pulled from the ice. Do they have anything to share with each other? Arthur Gore, a man much older than them both has become a dear friend. He enjoys sharing the happy family life that Graham and Little Cat have created. They live in British Columbia. And yet, they are aging, and what happens to duplicates when they die? In the course of coming to terms with this, Mrs. Gore begins telling her husband a story. In this story there is no time machine, they are unique human beings who meet each other while at work in the Ministry. This story begins in the second chapter.
There is a horror aspect to these stories, because what happened to those failed duplicates that didn't work out at the Ministry of Time.
