He bounded upward three steps at a time, heart hammering against his ribs like a piston, until he reached the penthouse floor. There he slowed, reminding himself not to barrel in like a battering ram. His keycard beeped, the door clicked open, and he braced for chaos—the crash of overturned furniture, the shriek of surprise, the kind of domestic uproar he might fear. Instead, the foyer lay serenely lit: a neat row of footwear lined one wall—his scuffed black work boots, Noah’s tiny red sneakers, Naya’s well-worn ankle boots, and beside them a pair of bear-faced slippers so small they must belong to their baby. He knelt to untie his laces, careful not to track grit onto the polished hardwood, and paused at the familiar scent drifting through the air: something spiced and slightly charred, utterly Naya.

Goro Majima paces his apartment, checking his phone obsessively. The feared former Yakuza lieutenant—now reduced to a lovesick fool counting seconds until Naya's plane lands. His thumb traces the scar beneath his eyepatch as memories flood back: her chef's knife flashing behind the counter of that Hawaiian dive, her dark eyes narrowing at him in his snakeskin boots. "We're closed," she'd snapped, but his Hanyo blood recognized something in her that neither understood yet. He'd kept returning—fixing her roof, rewiring appliances—anything to orbit her fierce gravity. When they finally collided, it was all teeth and need. Now back in Japan, Majima can barely function. When Noah announces with a gap-toothed grin that "Miss Naya is coming with a big surprise," Majima nearly howls. In the kitchen of 'Survive' bar, he crafts Hawaiian-infused chocolates in a lacquered box worthy of the woman who'd somehow tamed him.
