Grian collapsed on the bed, his eyes daring him to sleep but the pink costume in his closet said otherwise, he’d been planning this heist for a week now, and it was the one day that Mr. and Mrs Clark were out of the house, he crawled out of bed and grabbed his outfit, the pink and black uniform contrasting everything on his bed, he quickly put on the black tank top with the heart on it, and the soft black leggings then, his least favorite part, the pink shorts. His wings fell in place beside him, urging him to go, but he wasn’t ready. He quickly grabbed his white boots with the pink laces, went to his safe, and grabbed his usual pink guns. Hopefully, he wouldn’t need them, but better safe than sorry, that’s what Impulse had always said. “I promise I’m still looking for you guys.”
He jumped out the window, running on the grass before taking off into the wind, immediately filling underneath his wings, the sensation amazing. When he realised he had forgotten his mask, “Oh crap!” Grian said as he flew down and flew through his window, and grabbed his mask. He tied it around his face; the mask barely let him see, but better than getting caught. And out the window again.

The light vibration in his throat as he tried to speak was missing. Like his vocal cords had completely given up on him.
Grian looked back at the two suspected culprits with wide eyes, trying to hide the way his right hand was trembling on his neck.
“I had hoped it would not come to this”, the left one spoke, the voice devoid of emotion. “You have been chosen. You are to become one of Us. And Watchers do not speak.”

Evolution was supposed to be a normal server. Grian wasn’t supposed to get trapped in the End and be changed into something beyond his comprehension. As his playerhood gets ripped away, Grian is thrusted into the cold, unfeeling world of Watchers. A world he never was meant to belong to.
Deep down, he is still a player wanting to be whole again. A player wanting to get back his old connections and live a normal life. A player, who had lost his physical body and the ability to interact with his surroundings in the process of becoming a Watcher.
This story is a journey of learning to live once more, finding and returning to normal when "normal" seems unattainable, and finally being able to love yourself again.

Summary
Grian is a simple man. He doesn't need much. Just him, and his band mates. Or...that's what he thought. Being part of a masked band is fun and all, but sometimes it feels it's not enough. The competition between other bands, the way he can't sleep at night. He wants more. And when a certain person he knows quite well catches his eye...he realizes that maybe there is a reason worth being here.
Scar, a skilled drummer in the famous band 'Cabin Crew', has always loved music. The whole reason he started playing drums was because of the drummer in the masked band; 'The Secret Society', after all. He simply admires the man, and wishes to get closer. So when he finally gets a chance, he takes it. But will he care that their supposed to be rivals? Or that maybe he's known the drummer all along?

Grian and Scar are part of different bands who are supposed to be enemies. Grian and Scar know each other outside of their bands, but in band, Scar doesn't know its Grian under the mask...

"You are incredibly lucky, you know," she says gently, moving closer to his bedside. Watching her move, it was almost like she was floating. "You almost joined the rest of the souls wandering aimlessly in this realm. Those friends of yours and the lovely doctors and nurses here saved you from that fate." She sits on the edge of the bed, and he notices the bottom of her dress fades into a wispy smoke. She reaches out to take his hand, but it just passes right through for a moment before solidifying and taking his hand.
He pulls his hand away, instead gripping the hospital blanket.
"My realm was very close to taking you," she says gently. "I implore you to not be scared if you see those who have passed. They are not used to being seen by a living being such as you."
He looks up to see her kind eyes looking down at him. He wants to believe that this is all just more trauma-induced hallucinations, but something in him tells him that it's all real. He watches her fade from his vision and he sits back in the hospital bed.

His eyes widened, the removal of the cloth revealing vibrant red, yellow, green, and blue feathers. Like a scarlet macaw's feathers. On closer inspection, he could make out the shape of a humanoid figure.
The creature had dirty blond hair, all ragged and knotted, and even slightly bloodied. Its skin was pale, covered in slashes, burners, and bruises. Wings protruded from its back skin fading into the vibrant red feathers. One of these wings was badly mangled, feathers broken and tangled. The bones of this creature’s wing were clearly broken and twisted. The other wing was curled protectively around the thing. The creature looked completely bare, deprived of any cloth. Based on the structure of this figure, they were clearly an avian hybrid.
Scar looked beyond the blond hair, meeting with the brown sunken eyes of the avian. He could see the fear and disdain in his eyes as he peered up at the captain.

Summary
Despite the title, this story is rather unserious and (in my professional opinion) funny. As you can clearly see from this summary alone.
Anyways.
The god of the world feeds upon emotions. The ones in charge of producing emotion are mortals (beings that can die) and the ones in charge of collecting those emotions are the Watchers and Listeners.
The world has started to become apathetic, and the god is weakening. Angels are sent down to the mortal world for a more "hands on" method to collect more emotion.
It's just a shame that Watchers and Listeners have a hard time working together.

“Scar holds out the head, and finds a pristine, bright, familiar, yellow feather tucked behind one of the head’s great big ears. “How did you—?” Scar asks, but obviously Grogu can’t respond, so Scar is just left to extract the feather from it’s perch, holding it up, and twirling it around, looking at how the sun hits it. It looks pretty.
It’s definitely Grian’s, his tri-colored parrot wings a staple— some might even say an omen— but why it’s even there is beyond Scar.”
Grian was made an avian by the Watchers. He never had anyone to teach him the customs, or what they mean, however he still does have the instincts.
Scar is a vex. He has no clue about any avian customs.
Grian gives Scar his feathers over the years out of impulse, not knowing why it matters, but feeling a compulsion to do so for some reason.
Surely this won’t make their friends who actually bother to look into things draw any conclusions! Right?
