Την είδα να πιέζει το εκκρεμές στο χέρι της μέχρι που το δέρμα σκίστηκε. Το αίμα νότισε τον προφυρό μανδύα της και αφομοιώθηκε αρμονικά σε αυτόν. Και ύστερα κύλησε στα μαρμάρινα πλακάκια. Είναι δυνατόν μία μικρή πληγή να αιμορραγεί έτσι;
Η ρόδινες λίμνούλες που κατέκλυσαν το πάτωμα με προέτρεπαν να εστιάσω σε κάτι. Θα έλεγε κανείς πειραγμένος ότι αντικατόπτριζαν πρόσωπα, δροσοσταγή και σκαμμένα. Όπως αυτό του Μ., από τότε που ήμασταν συνεργάτες σε εκείνο το αξιογέλαστο σχολικό πρότζεκτ. Και της Γ., της ερευνητικής ομάδας του Στάνφορντ, που ανέπτυξε τον εξωφρενικό αισθητήρα ανίχνευσης όπλων ο οποίος έφερε την επανάσταση κατά της υποκίνησης επιθέσεων στα αεροδόμια...
Η ιδέα της είχε γίνει και αυτή κτήση μου.
