Solfrid High-Land is destined to become the Listener of the Dark Brotherhood, but her way to getting there is rather circuitous. Laughter, love, and loss seem to follow her wherever she goes....
The main plot starts out following canon questlines from the perspective of a young adventurer named Solfrid High-Land, but gradually deviates more and more as the world expands around her. Mainly inspired by my main playthrough of Skyrim, but this story is not tied to the options the character is forced to follow in-game. I'll add more characters, ships, and tags as I write them. Chapters are subject to revision as I write more and edit as I go.
(Title subject to change, right now it's a reference to the fic's theme song, Shine and Shade by Beyond the Black)

The only thing in question now is her loyalty to their beliefs. Does she stand tall for the thieves or will she let the dreams of another group sway her thoughts? Brynjolf would've never let his faith in her waver but as she voices the longing for a new adventure, he learns more than anticipated. Skeletons begin to fall from her closet as they visit her past partners and homesteads. While Brynjolf is entangled in all the secrets she kept from him, she continues to hide one more as the interests of another group head her way.
