“We will be welcoming many new faces to our halls this year, starting next week!” Dumbledore announced, his eyes twinkling behind his half-moon spectacles as he clapped his hands together in excitement. The echo of his words filled the Great Hall, a mixture of enchanted chatter and the smell of delectable feasts swirling around them.
Most of the younger students at Hogwarts nodded eagerly in acknowledgment, their expressions ranging from curious to thrilled, while many of the older students exchanged looks that were a blend of surprise and skepticism, raising eyebrows and casting quick glances at one another.
At the Gryffindor table, Harry Potter sat with his two closest friends, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger. A wave of curiosity washed over Harry. Who were these new kids? What were their stories? And what had brought them here, to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, at such an unusual time in the school year?
