Summary
She just wanted a fresh start in Pittsburgh. Away from a toxic hospital, away from the constant noise, and all the grief she hasn’t quite unpacked yet.
What she didn’t plan on doing was go home with a charming, brown eyed, older man from a bar on her first night back.
And she definitely didn’t plan on walking into her first day as a first year resident and realising that stranger is her new attending.
One night. One secret. One very tense workplace.

Summary
Her mind traced back to him as she cut the line from the second suture. He hovered right behind her, observing her work; if she paused for moment and listened close, she could nearly hear the drum of his heart; the slow settling pace of his steady breathing.
Her own heart seemed to try and claw its way out of her chest. She suddenly had to focus just to be able to breathe.
And then a little prick — right through her blue, latex glove.
Shit.
There, a droplet of blood welled.
“Langdon,” was all that she said, and he was in action. She had all too clearly noticed the tremble in her own voice; the way in the flash of any moment of panic, his name rolled off of her tongue with ease.

"Didn’t make any friends during orientation?”
She laughed- then stopped abruptly because that was actually not a joke. “Um…no. I don’t make friends easily.”
She waited for him to look at her with pity, or offer false reassurances. He looked mildly contemplative instead. “I think most people’s ‘friends’ are actually just acquaintances, anyway.”
Mel blinked. “You think so?”
“It’s important to remember that most people are bullshitting you like…at least sixty percent of the time.”
Mel wasn’t sure if this extended to him. If it did, would he tell her? Probably not.

Summary
Set between Season 1 & Season 2.
After a series of bad days amidst a snowstorm, Dennis clings to silver linings, such as: A new sweater. A new patient. Chinese takeout. A spontaneous haircut. Blue nail polish. A silk blouse.
This is how I think Dennis Whitaker ended up with his little Season 2 mullet.

Summary
McKay and Santos were handling a minor car wreck. To her right, Whitaker, Langdon and King were doing CPR on another patient. Behind her, she heard Robbie and Javadi talking through a procedure in action. A symphony of life saving voices filled her ears.
‘Can I get one milligram of…!
…..I need hands on this….
….We got a bleeder…!”
Suddenly, the red phone rings on the counter. She’s the only doctor on the floor. The ambient noise fades away and she approaches the counter. Dana picks it up, mid second ring, and plugs her other ear with a finger. She nods a few times before turning and looking right at Gwen.
“Dr. Merril, we got multiple gunshot wounds to the chest. 30 year old male incoming. Three minutes out.” Her voice is serious, “It’s just you and Mohan right now. She’s on her first rotation.” Dana warns."Doctor, look into my eyes. I've been breathing air, but there's no sign of life. Doctor, the problem's in my chest. My heart feels cold as ice, but it's anybody's guess." -Cold, Cold, Cold by Cage the Elephant.

When an uncharacteristic public outburst threatens to destroy her carefully crafted image, Samira is given an ultimatum: join Jack’s team or risk being shut out of the industry altogether. Forced to collaborate, to serve something bigger than herself, and to work directly with the man she blames for her lack of accolades, Samira can finally see the Grammy Award just out of reach. Mel just pulled onto her street, pulling to the side to park her car. She was exhausted. One of the public transport buses had a mechanical failure, leading to a breakdown on a busy street and cause an 8-car pile-up.
So instead, she pulled her phone from her pocket. She wanted to sit and watch her virtual lava lamp to help her relax after an intense shift. She sat watching the lava lamp for a few minutes, til she was interrupted by a notification.
