After a few seconds, Fukazawa finally spoke. "I assume you know why you're here, Dazai," he said, his voice low and even — the kind of tone that made Dazai flinch.
When Dazai answered, his voice cracked. "Is it... because of my attendance...?" he asked, glancing everywhere except at Fukazawa.
"Correct," Fukazawa said, his tone firm enough to make Dazai let out an awkward, nervous laugh.
The sound felt too loud in the quiet office, but Fukazawa didn't react. He simply folded his hands on the desk and continued. "Your attendance is not only unacceptable because you skip class," he said, voice steady and commanding, "but your grades have begun to reflect it as well. Therefore, I've decided that the student council president, Edogawa, will personally be responsible for getting you back on track." As he said this, Fukazawa gestured toward Ranpo. Ranpo didn't even look up. He was still sprawled on the couch, thumbs tapping at his handheld game, a bag of candy half-open beside him. -

Summary
Nakahara Chūya left the Port Mafia four years ago, during the worst of what became known as "The Port Mafia Raids" or just "The Raids". Despite being emotionally unstable and unable to properly care for himself, he attempted to make a better name for himself in the world of the light, rather than the underworld he grew up in. After being referred to the Armed Detective Agency, Chūya passed a modified version of the exam and has now been a member for the past two years, and even recently took in a mentee or two.
But when things get sticky with the Port Mafia, Chūya is forced to confront a past he wished would just stay buried. But emotions that strong don't go away with time, and he realizes that he could never truly live without his other half. As the two of them work through the four years of ghosting and pain between them, other organizations inside and outside of Yokohama start causing trouble. And it's not long before Chūya is used against the one who loves him most.

Dazai walking out while Kunikida was screaming at him was nothing new. The man practically had a rotation of speeches at this point, like a jukebox of disappointed authority figures. Irresponsible, unreliable, insufferable, blah blah blah. Dazai had heard it all before. And as always, he slipped out of the office before Kunikida could notice he wasn’t even listening, his coat fluttering dramatically behind him.
But today was different.
Today—October 3rd—was the start of his family’s annual Catch Up Bonding Weekend. It was the single most cursed tradition he had ever been roped into, and that was saying something for a man who once got buried alive for fun. Three days of pure chaos, where all of his siblings and parents were gathered in one place under the flimsy excuse of “bonding.” He could already imagine the screaming matches, the brawls, the inevitable property damage, and Mori sitting smugly in a corner like it was his own personal reality show.
