His tone has changed to one that is too gentle to be aimed at George. George, who badmouthed him in the media, George, who tried to get Max race banned, George, who made Max leave this morning. He doesn’t notice he's saying this out loud until Max interrupts him.
“George. I don’t care about any of that right now, Liefje. Are you at your hotel? I’m on my way baby.”

“Georgie, are you okay?”
He opens his mouth to answer, but the words get stuck in his throat. Max Verstappen is standing in front of him, holding take-away bags and looking genuinely concerned. He manages to shake his head, and Max gently pushes past him and sets the bags down on the hotel desk.
