In fact, Oakhurst doesn't really have a history with vampires.
Of course, everyone is pretending that vampires and magic isn't real so they aren't found out for being magic.
But as everyone slowly figures out what everyone is, shenanigans, and angst, ensues.

Summary
Pyro first awakens as a ghost a year after his death, a vengeful spirit bound to the castle where he died.
200 years pass, and one day, he finds a still alive, confused, and demon-ified Avid staggering across the bridge to the castle.
It turns out that Avid can see them. However, he isn’t fully trusting of them- and Pyro is fine with that, as long as they have someone to talk to whenever they wanted. He was tired, and it was nice to have someone who could see him again.

Every year, on the dot, she, Scott and Drift make their way from whatever corner of the world they’ve found themselves in, to make pilgrimage back to Oakhurst to visit Avid’s grave. A ritual, a ceremony. They used to say it was to visit Cleo and Pearl as well. But it’s been a hundred or so years since those two moved on. Really, it wasn’t ever about visiting Cleo or Pearl. It was only about Avid.
Shelby’s read about desire paths before. Humans tend to pick the quickest way to their destination; desire paths are guidelines to their end goal. In this way, Shelby is still human, this trip is her desire path, her way forward.

Summary
Scott settled in his usual park-routine. Stroll around for a while, pick a nice empty bench, sit and watch the people walk by. Get up again, go for a block round the streets, duck in a store to see if anything caught his eye, walk back to the park, pick a new bench, rinse and repeat.
He liked the different scenes that would happen around him, a quiet fascination for the daily routines humans live around him. Like watching ants walk around, busy with themselves, mundane little things like walking their dog, gliding around on tiny wheels beneath some kind of plank or even directly under their shoes, or like him sitting around doing whatever.
So simple, so different from before yet also exactly the same.

Scott got his happily ever after, living with his roommate in New York City, free from any beacons tying him to some town. He was loving the new life, the new world, and new emotions he felt.For some new emotions, he wasn't quite ready, however. Nor for seeing a very familiar face that should not be there.
