Summary
At first, Anakin did not think much of the relationship between Obi-Wan and Satine Kryze. He was mainly amused by being able to tease his old man, and that was all there was to it.
Then he learned that Obi-Wan would have left the Order for her, that he loved her that much... and Anakin was not sure he loved HIM that much. A dark and corrosive jealousy immediately began to burn in his heart like acid. He hated the feeling but could not suppress it, at best he managed to hide it.
The worst part was, of course, that he had no chance of competing with the politician who flirted withhim between gibes whenever they saw each other. He was not a beautiful, cold, overly pacifist woman who projected a perfect image of herself, he was a damaged, fiery man full of flaws. He was a disaster who would never be loved as much as he loved... and he felt himself sinking into his hatred of the world and himself.

“Oh?” Anakin blinked. He was used to his boss making demands, not offers. “May I ask what you have in mind?”
She cleared her throat and looked away. “As you know, I had a wedding to attend this weekend.”
Anakin tilted his head to the side. “Should I have canceled your flight?”
“No, no. In fact, I changed my plans about that.” Padmé quickly answered, her hands playing with a pencil. “I’ve decided to go to the wedding.” She hesitated for a moment. “But I need you to come with me, Anakin. As my date.”

Obi-Wan thought he was done with the Jedi when he had returned to his parents' home after leaving the Jedi Order, when all his hopes of becoming a Jedi consular, and more specifically a Jedi diplomat, had been dashed.
Of course, he had met some of them again, but that was nothing more than small talk from a Deep Core Senator to someone advising a peaceful approach to what would probably be tough negotiations.
Twenty years had passed, he had made a life for himself, a life he enjoyed and was proud of. And now what, they expected him to put his life on hold to be the caring Omega of their Hero With no Fear?
