“What are you waiting for?” Mike’s urging causes Lucas to scramble for his backpack and bike. “Let’s go!”
“Mike!” Lucas calls to a speedy, steady Mike up ahead. He didn’t even let him reorganize the emergency supplies in his backpack for their lesson. Still, he smiles and shakes his head to himself. It doesn’t really matter in the end. Wherever Mike goes, he’ll follow.

Mike and Lucas are life-long friends, neighbors, and twin flames. Dual leaders of the party, they harbor equal parts of admiration and envy for the other, leading to conflict and explosive moments. However, their friendships is forged from deep love, and they always return to each other.

Summary
Mike and Will bumped elbows as they walked down the hallways, headed to the back of the school where it would be easier to sneak out unnoticed.
"Do you want to.. talk about it?" Will hesitantly questioned. And Mike, he didn't know how to respond, what was there to talk about?
Mike settled with a small shake of his head and a weak sounding, "Not yet." to which Will nodded firmly, sending worried glances over to Mike every now and then.
Mike wanted more than anything to hold Will's hand, tell him that's he's ok, that he 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 be ok as long as they're together.
But he can't, and that hurts more than he'd like to admit. He wished things were different, he wished he was normal.
He wished Will was a girl, it'd be easier that way.

Now, someone walked into the room. A boy, awkwardly standing at the side of his bed, looking over him worriedly. His hair was brown and scruffy, and he had big baby doe eyes and a yellow-and-blue horizontally-striped shirt like a cartoon character. The window was lighting him up like he was important to Mike’s narrative. The curtains are blue, thought Mike, this boy is light. I love metaphors. Maybe he was high on the pain meds. Upon seeing him, Mike felt a great affection, a great peace. Plus, he had long eyelashes. Mike almost giggled to himself. He was definitely a little high.
“Hi.” breathed Mike.
“Hi.” he said, hesitating.
“We’re friends?” Mike asked hopefully.
Or: During the Party's final battle with Vecna, Mike is gravely injured and loses his memories. He wakes up in a hospital only remembering a handful of inconsequential little things, like how much he loves a boy who seems like light.

It’s not that he hadn’t known already, how his and Will’s relationship has always been a little different than their other friendships, or how he never wants Will to leave his side, ever, or how sometimes he looks at Will and wonders what it would be like to kiss him. It’s more that he had never really put a name to any of that, had just pushed it down or ignored it or acted like it didn’t mean anything. Until now.

Vecna had torn Hawkins in half. The air tasted like chemicals and ash. Schools shut down, and soldiers patrolled the streets like the world had tilted just past survivable. Everything was wrong, but Mike Wheeler wasn’t complaining, because two months ago the Byers had moved in with the Wheelers.
Mike’s breath stumbled in his chest. He tried to ground himself, tried to think of anything, anything except the awareness of how close Will was (he was sitting at a normal distance), except the shape of Will’s mouth when he spoke. Maybe if he counted to ten, he could shake off whatever the hell this was instead of staring at Will’s lips like some creep.
One… two… three… four…
When he lifted his eyes again, Will’s eyes were still on him, he was still talking, and he looked so alive.
Five… six—
Mike’s pulse thudded hard enough that the numbers broke apart in his head. The air felt too thin, his chest too tight, everything tilting just slightly off-center around the curve of Will’s smile.

Mike tries to wrestle out of Will’s grasp but he doesn’t even budge. He has his wrists pinned on either side of his head and his hips are straddling his waist. Mike wouldn’t complain about their position in any other situation, but right now all he feels is fear. Will’s eyes are that milky white again and his teeth are bared, chest heaving intensely. It looks eerily similar to him killing the demogorgons at the Mac-Z and it makes Mike want to hurl.
Mike has never been scared of Will. Mike knows the power that the boy holds, even dating back to his early teen years and his easy use of a shotgun. He knows Will is capable of being dangerous, but it’s never been pointed at him. He’s terrified now.

So when he hears Holly’s screams from upstairs, Mike doesn’t even give himself a chance to think before he’s grabbing the knife he has beside him from cooking in the kitchen and racing towards Holly.
