Summary
It’s been 3 years since The Visitor came and tore apart society within a fortnight.
It’s been 3 years since they started picking up the pieces.
And yet, people still get turned; by bite, by photograph, by drawing, even though they’ve mostly been burned.
Including Sam, who was the only human left in this town after all this time.
It offers him a revelation in the way he used to look at The Cursed; there is undeniably a difference between body and mind. -

Summary
Life on Earth has transformed in the Visitor’s wake. Some developed great power and became gods. Others cracked under the strain and became monsters. The survivors pledge themselves to cults for protection or leave the city centres for self-sufficiency.
Then you have fellas like Sam and Lyle. Somehow making it work with just unhealthy codependency and a dream.

Summary
Okay… Be careful. They could still be dangerous.” The apprehensive tone in her voice gives Sam a sense of unease. He trusts the three. Not that he was going to explain all that to Sybil. As much as he believed it, he doesn't feel very keen on providing the details.
Instead he gives Sybil a forced smile.
“Thank you. I'll stay safe.” He lies.

Summary
Sam bites his lip as Lyle licks over his pulse point, tensing up in a mixture of terror and arousal. He doesn’t want to encourage Lyle any more than he already has. However, he can’t hold back the small groan that escapes when he feels the sharp teeth graze his skin, the touches are soft, surprisingly so for someone who could just hold Sam down and be done with it.
Sam doesn’t know what to do with the realization that lyles trying to make it good for him, too.

Summary
Looking back, being upset at seeing an eye peering in from his bedroom wall is kind of silly now.
The news it delivered seemed so dire at the time, in spite of him brushing it off to go eat a hearty breakfast.
It turns out that those fifteen days would be the least of his concerns. It was the worst fifteen days life ever threw his way.
Sam just hoped to see something past the end of the horizon once it was safe to look again. Not this.
Never this.

Summary
Over a year after the world ended, life continued to move on. Plenty of people still lived in the apartment and needed supplies. Sam's group spends the night in a store while out scavenging.
When he can't sleep, he sits with Hellen.
It's a comfortable routine.

Summary
He fell only a few hours short. The Visitor was gone before he was able to take the manuscript down to the first floor.
One small mistake took days out of him to recover. More than even the arm did. It weighs on him. Those lost because of his own curiosity and delays. The people they lost in the months after due to foolish mistakes. The longing for a life none of them will ever get back.
It pressed against his thoughts more than he ever thought it could.
Almost as much as the photograph he could never seem to take out of his pocket.
