Summary
After the crazy Halloween and being forced into the Wardens, Harry realizes that the White Council protect Chicago. Chicago would have burned before they realized there was an issue. Those within the Supernatural Community didn't trust them and he decides that something had to be changed. So he gathers the Community at Mac's to decide how to protect Chicago without the Council. They needed someone who could do the political side of things as well as command the authority to keep beings in check. There weren't many who fit both criteria. One big one was a man who continually tried to put himself into the line of fire; despite the fact he was a vanilla mortal. John Marcone. If they chose him, he would need a Protector as he was still a mortal. Harry has to make a choice on whether or not he could put aside his feelings for the man for the good of his city. A bond like what would be created for a Protector bond would destroy the ties that bound him to the Council and to the Winter Queen. Little does he know he has already been bound to Marcone for nearly a decade.

Summary
Hundreds of years ago, Spirits formed contracts with powerful humans. This allowed them to spend time outside of the NeverNever without using their life force. Over time they are forgotten and contracts are no longer formed regularly.
Harry Dresden was once one of the spirits, a wolf in particular. He'd been contracted against his will to Justin DeMorne only to kill him. Despite having a good reason for doing so, he is banished from returning to the place that could restore his life force. 10 years after this he accidentally binds himself to John Marcone through the Soul Gaze. He knows what is happening but decides not to tell John about it. He just watches from the shadows interfering only if necessary. Until Nicodemus attacks John as Harry is on the last legs of his life force.

Summary
Even within the Supernatural scene there were certain... oddities in their world. Those who walked outside of the control of others. Most thought they belonged to one Court or another with their strength. Even those that recognize them as oddities have forgotten their names and why they walk amongst them. Wizards try to control those who use magic but they are not bound by the Laws of Magic, for they answer naught to the Merlin.
Harry Dresden lives a fairly quiet life. He is only there to ensure a balance remains in the world while his own balance is thrown off. Without an anchor to keep him from losing himself to his power. Things begin to change when the new mob boss decides to enter his motel.
When John took control over the Outfit, he learned about Supernatural. He seeks to gain a foothold so that never again will he be caught unawares by the creatures that hid in the shadows. After nearly a year, he comes across a man claiming to be a wizard and agrees to meet him at one of the local motels. Its a rundown place that allows just about anyone in as long as they paid. Nothing goes the way he expects it to.

John is angry and frustrated that Harry is hiding. When he goes to confront him. However, he is met with a much colder and distant Harry. One who won't communicate with him. He does not know how things could have spiraled so far.

Cursed by a fairy who thought she was "helping", Harry has to find a man to have set with. The curse requires to completely give up control or die. Harry was very tempted to say fuck it and die. He didn't know who if anyone he could really trust for that.
John heard from Gard that Dresden had been cursed. She seemed to be more amused by the situation Dresden found himself than worried. It was a fairy curse, so that made sense. They liked their games. So he sent an invitation for a meeting. Chicago needed it's wizard alive after all.

Summary
There are those among us who can move at will between the world of wolves and the world of the humans. There are many names for them depending on the culture and history with these creatures. Some of them share names with monsters older than history itself. Due to their connection to the moon and the thinning of the veils many settled in areas known as Wolf Lake, in the deep forests. For hundreds of years, after the Great War of the Clans they lived in peace. With both natural wolves and humans.
Instead of killing DeMorne with magic, Harry came into a long forgotten inheritance and tears out his throat. The White Council assumes it's a lup-garouattack. Harry runs to Chicago where he spends more than a year on the streets before he accidentally comes across Gentleman Johnny Marcone. He escape into the Spirit Realm by slipping off his pentacle so that it no longer touches skin.
Time and time again they meet only for Harry to slip from his grasp over the next year. Even as he finally finds stability in working for a run down bar where he sleeps in the back. The cops assume he's a junky, and the locals are content to leave him be. Through unfortunate events he's forced into Marcone's lap.
