Set in the rebooted POTA franchise 2 to 3 years after the events in Kingdom Of The Planet Of The Apes hence the title as the transgenic Mars mission astronauts/colonists of the Icarus return to purge the world of those they deem as inferior and start from scratch. in the meantime a lesbian Bonobo named Tian a late teens brunnete haired human female and Raka who survived after all go on a perilous quest to the domain of Noa's Eagle Clan as the relationship between Tian and Chani grows despite being different species.

Or basically my retelling of Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes because I crave more moments with Noa, Mae, and Raka—they're my favorites! It's also a self-indulgent fic to really explore the beautiful chemistry between Noa and Mae.

As she meets strange humans and apes alike, some of which want to lift her up and some of which want to see her fall further. From what remains of Caesar’s civilization hails the Kingdom of Pacifica, comprising twelve Clans and the Coastal City as its Capital.
Noa is a young ape longing for purpose and honor. Mae is an echo - human - that has had to scrounge for survival longer than not. The two live on opposite sides of Mining Clan; Noa in the tree manor with his family, and Mae by the Mouth of the mines, where she and other echoes are forced to do dangerous work by ape overseers. Noa has held a secret in the distance between them for years; Mae can speak. And Echoes that can speak are forbidden.
This past further complicates when they are both to face the Primus Game, an annual fight to the death on the Coast that functions as atonement for a transgression neither was witness to.
In the crucible of these Games, Noa may discover his true self and be forced to betray it. Mae will have to grapple with what it means to be human, if that truly is the standard of worthiness she believes it to be, and the unsettling ambiguity that comes with hope. Their bond may serve as a microcosm of the relationship between apes and humans, posing one question: If we can die side by side, can’t we live?Series
