This is a world inhabited by fantastical creatures called Pokémon, and only Pokémon. Long ago it may have been that humans once existed, or perhaps they were never there in the first place. Whatever the truth is, it has little bearing on the world as it is now. Equally long ago, at least in feeling, is a legend of a great hero. This hero saved the world from cataclysmic doom by appealing to a higher power. Some who knew this hero recall that they called themselves, “a soul from another world”. Several legends of these otherworldly visitors exist, but whether they were the same person or all different people is lost to time. There are no such visitors now, at least to the world at large. If one exists, they may be in some remote corner of the world, or simply hiding in secret. In this modern age, Pokémon have gathered together in settlements larger than any era past. They have come up with great inventions and automated factories, they have industrialized. Fearsome places once known as “mystery dungeons” are now largely faded from the world, but they can still be found if one is determined enough to seek them out. For the average Pokémon, life is simple and modern, but still offers its own problems.
