Summary
The yard was full of the usual excited chatter that always preceded a race. Everyone choosing racers to root for, bets being placed, anyone not in the race setting up around the course in a perfect vantage point to see their favourites coming around a bend.
Porter and Lumber had stood off to the side, clapping and cheering for Rusty and Slick, playing the ever supportive role that the steamer had come to expect from them. That he'd come to expect from Porter most of all.

She's head over heels for local hotshot racer Greaseball and Greaseball feels the same about her but neither know it. Big things are brewing in this sleepy little town as a fresh face shows up to work the diner! Pearl wants to be part of the world of racing but will have to stick to pouring coffee for now. Rusty comes to live in the junkyard with Momma and wants to salvage himself a race car to take on the world with. Electra has gained much confidence in their driving through being the front car for their components' convoy. Who will rise to the top?

I have tagged all the characters and relationships as best I can but please scan through and see if there is something you want as I have tried my best to organise it in an easy to read and navigate way.
Anthropomorphising/humanisation of characters (especially physically) will vary (so if you have a preference for a request specify)
(Apologies in advance for my knowledge on the history of this very complex production, please do give notes in the comments about what is right and wrong for the characters - be brutal if a character seems off. I do my research and know a decent amount but still can make mistakes as I am human)

She had chosen a hiding place (before her legs had become too hard to move) that was out of the way for a reason- no one should be able to find her unless they were purposely searching. The wheels grew louder, and then stopped. She was motionless, scarcely able to breathe. It was probably someone who had taken a wrong turn, or had just gotten lost- she just had to stay still and quiet, and everything would be fine-

The morning following the race, Hydra’s glares and guilt has been eating Lumber and Porter alive. Having enough, they finally go and apologize to Rusty. Rusty, being the way too forgiving soul he is, accepts it, but asks Porter if it was because of the crash that stopped him from racing.
*My interpretation of the fandom’s universal headcanon of Porter not racing due to a crash in the past.
