Only at night, when they ought to be sleeping, does Ron start to ask for the details about what happened.

This is why Ibrahim is so startled to find Ron unannounced in his apartment, distressed at the thought of his son being a murderer. On the first night where Ron stays with Ibrahim in the hospital, Ibrahim is shocked to find that he is able to fall asleep quickly - for the first time in many years. The same is not true of Ron, who may be slightly more upset about his assault than he's previously expressed. Ever the therapist, Ibrahim tries to portray a genuine vulnerable emotion out of the man, and is surprised to reveal a few of his own.

However, Ibrahim knows that real life will ultimately trounce whatever fragile glass house of masculinity that Ron has built for himself. And so, the afternoon after Ron's beloved son Jason is fingered as a suspect in the ongoing murder investigation, when Ibrahim finds a distressed Ron in his apartment... it is not surprise that fills him, but concern.
