As they lay in bed, a mirror of that storming April night, Will can’t help but turn his head to look at Mike. When he turns, he finds Mike’s already watching him, his eyes so incredibly soft. Holly lays between them, her head resting against Mike’s chest. Mike strokes his sister’s hair and all Will feels is love bubbling up his throat. He’s wanted this, he always has, and somehow he does. He doesn’t want this to end.
Mike looks at him gentle and fond, his face creased in a way he’s never seen before, he whispers, “I’m glad you’re here.”
Will looks at Mike with love in his eyes and want in his heart, it’s supposed to feel wrong but he can’t deny himself this, “I’m glad I’m here too.”

Summary
Will Byers is starting college. That means no more overprotective mother, no more Jonathan to give him an advice he didn't ask for and no more sister to make her way into his room so suddenly whenever she wanted (or so he thought until his roomie thit that shit), but the most important: no more questions about Mike Wheeler. He's starting college and over, he's making new friends, better friends, he'll may find love in someone and forget Hawkins ever happened to him. Or so he thought until he meets Mike's puppy eyes again.
He can't go another round to fight with his own burning feelings for him, he can't have another round with his past problems. But then, he has to add more problemas after he goes to a filthy tavern and ends up spotted by some college kids' band after he's the eyes of their band's, The Outcasts, leader on him.
Is funny how Will can never have a break. This journey just started and has a far end: to search himself after those years missing, shared with a path of others' goals, very lonely hearts with a pinch of badly made DnD references.

Mike’s lips trembled, squeezing his eyes closed. He was gonna cry if Will kept screaming like that. He’d seen Will being burned alive before, but this was intense.
Will’s body didn’t adjust to the heat at all, all he could focus on was how much pain he was in. It felt he’d forgotten to put sunscreen on and fell asleep outside for 2 hours. He was burning.When Will gets possessed by the Mind Flayer again, it's up to Mike to get rid of it

Everyone except for Will. He can't seem to get out of fight or flight mode, and everything's been wrong. His body feels off, heavy and achy, while his concentration is shot. No one noticed when he stopped showing up to things, stopped answering his radio. El will chatter every night about what her and Mike were up to that day.
And it seems to take all of Dustin's energy to keep moving, and to show up himself. Lucas is with Max, and no one noticed when Will started to fade into the background. He knew if he stopped trying, this is what would happen. He knew as soon as he had to beg for their attention. It's ok though, he's always known his place. And now it's fine for him to step back, and let them all breathe without him. Every morning he takes another walk like this one, trying to chase away the ache in his joints that make it hard to move. Part of him knows that he should say something, that this isn't normal pain.
That something is seriously wrong, but he can't bring himself to.
