“Sesshomaru-sama, would you like some?”
Tonight’s concoction was a melange of herbs, root vegetables, and fish chucks rendered unidentifiable after being simmered together in a broth of steeped seaweed. Rin had an industriousness about her that Sesshomaru had never appreciated before. Then again, perhaps it was new. This act of creation was performed with evident relish. Thick steam wafted from the pot and her eyes closed in rapture, the aroma a source of undeniable pleasure. Scent defined Sesshomaru’s perception. Generally, he found Rin to be oblivious to smells, but every now and again, her nose surprised him.
“Human food is not to my taste.”
“You haven’t even tried it!” Playfulness kept any real reproach from Rin’s tone, but Sesshomaru could nevertheless detect some unquantifiable disappointment.

Rin returns to Sesshomaru's entourage as an accomplished cook. Unfortunately, they have very different appetites.
