Revenge.Leaving Kaer Morhen after four months of recovery with the witchers is an imposing step for Jaskier, still traumatised by six years of slavery at the hands of bandits. It was easy to say he’d follow Geralt when they were in the safety of Kaer Morhen, but as they travel the path old memories and living nightmares plague his steps.
You’ll need to read A Fox Treads Silently (part 1 of the series) first.

Geralt opened his mouth to protest but was shocked into silence at a skirmish from the corner as a man was shoved forward, stumbling into the space between the witcher and the merchant. The new arrival stared at the floor, apparently too fearful to even look at a witcher, shoulders cringing and head low.
“What use have I for a boy?”
Given in payment, a slave is brought to Kaer Morhen to winter with the witchers, scared and silent. Even once he’s been freed it’s a long road to recovery.Series

Summary
Geralt is a god of death who really doesn't want to be worshipped by anyone.
Jaskier, of course, has other ideas.

“Geralt, forgive me, I…I should not have come here, shouldn’t have disturbed you. Please allow me to withdraw my prayer, no one needs to die,” Jaskier says shakily, and even though there is fear in the bard’s heart for his own life, largely there is regret and horror that he asked for Valdo’s death.
The demigod sighs softly, going down to one knee in front of the mortal, and very gently tilting Jaskier’s face to look up at him with a gloved finger under the bard’s chin. The witcher tries to make his stern countenance a gentler one and offers the man a small but sad smile as he murmurs in his gravelly baritone, “That’s not how this works, Jaskier. I can…set aside your request, as it were, but it doesn’t just go away. A prayer made must be answered.”

Summary
Geralt encounters a strange servant in a furrier's shop one day who follows him endlessly, asking to buy the fur coat he received as reward for a completed contract. The coat is such an odd thing. The furrier tore his shop to pieces for the loss of it, and the servant quit a comfortable life in the shop for the pursuit of it. And what's more, the servant continues to find him year after year on every turn of the path, his offer to buy the coat never ceasing.
ALT - Selkie Jaskier AU. Geralt accidentally picks Jaskier's selkie coat out of the shop at random, finding it hidden in a pile of furs, not knowing what it was. The furrier lost his enslaved selkie along with it, and Jaskier pursues Geralt to buy his true freedom, all while keeping his identity as a selkie secret. And whoops, they fall in love!
