Or
Shanks makes bad life choices. Benn makes it his job to save him from himself. Somehow they both make it through Shanks' teen years with all ten fingers and all ten toes. It only goes up from here.

AN: This story consists of Benn saving Shanks from a bad situation, the aftermath of that situation and a peek into the future when they’ve both grown up a bit more. I’ve tried to handle this subject with care and also in character. There is no actual rape, but it is definitely sexual assault and Shanks is a minor (16) in this. “Captain- I- I don’t know, if I can do it all over again,” Shanks confessed, voice breaking.
“Of course you can, kid,” Roger said, an easy grin stretching across his face, his large hand clasping comfortingly on Shanks’ small shoulder. “And who said anything about ‘doing it all over again’? You didn’t spend your first life worrying about the ending did you?”
“Course not!” Shanks said, affronted.
“Then why would you this time? Don’t think of it as a do over, this is still your life Shanks! So keep living your life without regrets- and if you do have past regrets- Well,” Roger shrugged, throwing a wink at him before glancing at the waves with a conspiratorial smile. “Here’s your chance to fix them.”
Or Shanks travels back in time, from the end to the beginning and oh so many years in between.
Or the Shanks being BAMF as he saves the world time travel fic we all deserve.

Thrown back into a nightmare of Fire after a long nightmare of Ice, Jaime tries to make good on promises he’d long since failed. Faces once lost find themselves staring down the rest of their lives thanks to the reckless actions of a young man with eyes older than crones and madness on his tongue. Kings are crowned, oaths are given and plots of restoration are made.
And over everything the Long Night looms.

A story told in three acts. 30% Jaime hurt/comfort, 30% medieval socialism and 30% war. Plus that one horror chapter I’m actually pretty proud of. First time committing to a planned out epic length work, but I’m already in too deep to back out now. Wish me luck!

Works in this series sometimes follow my general One Piece lore and head cannons but not always. They are also all unrelated because if they all happened in the same universe it would make the Red-Hair Pirates look very incompetent. Which they are not, I just love torturing Shanks. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
