The concept of fated mates wasn’t lost on Lin Ling. He knew they were something that happened, that sometimes couples are so perfect for each other that the draw they feel towards one another was so strong they couldn’t be with anyone else. Lin Ling didn’t ever think the concept would apply to him. After all, he had never met anyone who had a fated mate, to Lin Ling they might as well be myths.
OR Lin Ling can't help but enjoy loving Yang Cheng, despite it all.

Summary
Lin Ling used to dream of being a hero. The kind in golden age comic books with capes and filled to the brim with camp. He grew up on those types of comics.
That dream was never anything more than that, a dream. Heroes like that didn’t exist, not in reality.
His parents always told him to live in reality. That he would never be a hero, that he should focus on the real world where everyone else lived.
Even still, in his dreams, Lin Ling flew across city skylines and saved people.
Even after he graduated college, even after he got a job at a popular advertising company, Lin Ling dreamed.
