She perches on the windowsill, and becomes carrion-eater after carrion-eater. She makes him look at her. She does not let him look away.
His golden core is new. It fills up his meridians, his lower dantian. She can feel it too.
That night, for the first time, she flies out of the window as a silvery-black crow. She makes it an arm’s length out into the night before their tether pulls her back.
