Summary
Soaking up the adrenaline, she threw in next a handful of copper, lighting up at the cerulean blue sprouting from the flame. All the others had given her more of a green, so this type of copper giving her such a pretty result was a great achievement.
There was a fair bit in this load, from her testing she knew it would take perhaps an few minutes to burn through fully, or even to fade a little (ok, yeah maybe she got a little carried away, but who can blame her?). Turning back to her desk, which was the other side of her workstation but only a short chair slide and swivel away, she took a second to review and update her notes, which at this point filled several pages of tiny scrawlings, more words crammed into the margins as Jay put her whole focus into her writings.
Her first mistake.
