Even if Aegon did not contest Rhaenyra’s ascension to the throne, and Rhaenyra’s reign went on uninterrupted, Jacaerys would never be allowed the same opportunity. Rhaenyra and their father could pretend all they like, but everyone knew the truth. He would have no mother to protect him then, and the lords of Westeros would revolt and rally around a legitimate born ruler.
In any case, it would always be Aegon expected to take the helm of the Seven Kingdoms. In any case, they would always be in danger. If not Aegon, then it would be Aemond. If not Aemond, it would be Daeron. Then it would be Haera’s sons, and then Helaena’s. Then their daughters. No, Rhaenyra would never let them live. She would see them all dead before her in the effort to make Jacaerys’ ascension as smooth as possible.
