Summary
Buck chokes out a shaky whimper and opens his mouth to say something but all he can manage is a quiet cry and his eyes clench shut again, his face twisting in pain and his body trembling with agony. The weight on his abdomen feels heavier and it hurts, it hurts so bad and he knows he's bleeding, but he can't do anything to stop it because he can't move, he's stuck.
He barely brings his hand to his radio to call for his team, but someone else acts faster and speaks those words that pull Buck out of his haziness and hit him like a freight train, his eyes starting to burn with tears of fear.
"Mayday, mayday! Firefighter Buckley is down!"

Buck gets gravely hurt on a call, the road to recovery is long but Eddie is there to help.

Summary
“You never made it easy on us,” Margaret finishes for him, like she’s grasping for a reason as to why they treated him like they did, and then she turns to Maddie. “Either of you.”
Tears are in Maddie’s eyes, like her heart is being broken. “We were supposed to? We were kids.”
Margaret doesn’t respond, turning back to Buck instead, shaking viscerally as her face is beet red. “I don’t know what you expected us to do!”
Buck sighs, his body ready to collapse. “Love me anyway. Like Maddie did.” And that starts Maddie outright sobbing. She’s crying, and crying, and it’s all Buck’s fault. At least, that’s how he feels about it from the look his parents are giving him, from how Maddie turns away from him. He feels like he’s just fucked it all up.

"Did you know I tried out for the Navy SEALS?" he asked to the room at large, knowing full well he only ever talked about his failed endeavor with Bobby and Eddie. It wasn’t so much the failure to go through with it that had kept him silent, it was what it had brought to light.
For once he saw the distaste towards him drop from the Buckley’s faces, they both looked bewildered by his choice of topic. Margaret looked like she was about to interrupt him but he didn’t let her, earning a pointed glare from Phillip for it.
"You probably aren't aware what that entails. Sure, everyone has heard of BUD/s. Hell week. The physical requirements. But there's a step before that. They want to see some documents. Your High School Diploma, your last addresses, things like that… most importantly though, they want your birth certificate."

The sound of screeching metal and squealing tires cut him off, giving only a moment’s notice before something slammed into the side of the ambulance, sending it spinning, then rolling over itself once, twice. In a matter of seconds, the ambulance was upside down, unmoving, and Eddie was laying flat on his back on the ceiling of the vehicle.

Eddie realizes he's in love, and he and Christopher return to L.A. so he can confess to Buck. If only it were that simple.
