Hermione nodded, mind already on cursing Malfoy when the portrait's low baritone halted her.

She glanced back despite herself, unease coiling in her gut.

She was going to be sick. Hermione couldn’t quite comprehend the headline adorning The Daily Prophet this morning. Maybe it was her over tired brain. She did just give birth for the second time less than a week ago and she was beyond exhausted from night time feedings and having to make sure Rose wasn’t feeling less loved after the arrival of her baby brother.
Ron had been practically absent throughout not only most of her second pregnancy but had almost missed the birth of their son. Now, Hermione surmised why. She read the headline again.
